I have automated a high-throughput DNA and protein purification platform capable of producing 500 high-quality proteins weekly. These are then used to optimise biological candidate drugs across all therapy areas as well as provide data for predictive protein expression. To do this, I worked closely with scientists to program methods onto multiple liquid handlers to produce a highly automated platform.

  • The University Of Sheffield
    Undergraduate Research Project
The University Of Sheffield Sep 2016 - Aug 2017
    Department Of Sensory Physiology
I investigated the role of a transcription factor in organogenesis of the mouse inner ear through modulation of intracellular pathways. This project incorporated a literature review, three months of independent laboratory research and an oral presentation to academics. Throughout this project I was constantly critically assessing experimental designs as to improve the quality and efficiency of my work, and undertaking independent research goals that I designed.

    University Summer Research Internship
The University Of Sheffield Jun 2016 - Sep 2016
Cell Biology & Cancer Facility, Department Of Infection & Cardovascular Disease
Separate to my studies, I independently organised two summer placements; gaining first-hand experience in academic research and QC. While there, I optimised an immunolabelling practical class, investigated the possibility of replacing the standard cell line and produced an antibody stock. I was also hands-on with model organisms, investigating inflammation in zebrafish.
