Within Brocade my function was to provide the IP/Ethernet profestional services technical lead for the entire EMEA region, providing pre-sale and post sales professional services, as well as internal consultant mentoring. These services include, product development, pre-sales scoping, high & low-level designs, implementations, migrations, performance testing, auditing and troubleshooting. My work here is from small enterprise implementations, extensive datacenter depolyments, to large scale, pan European MPLS and service orgintated implementations. This includes the design, implement and migrated a large & varied number customer networks (in the hundreds), so providing me with a wide range of direct “hands on” customer experiences.

With the Cloud Networks, my task was providing architectural and design services to the internal production network and presales support to a number of existing and new corporate customers. Extensive work here on wireless enabled networks as well as advanced policy-based routing

Additionally, I provided architectural support to the “business to business” division, providing fully managed solutions such as VPN’s (both layer 2 & 3), Co-location, advanced business services (such as QOS, security, load balancing, application hosting), IPT, DWDM, wholesale solutions and public/private internet peering solutions, again with product strategy, high level/low level design, though to implementations initially performed by myself.Generally, I perform as the highest level of technical lead to the company around me on all data network technical subjects.

My role was mainly focused at pre-sales solution design activities, providing full turnkey solutions and migration designs that encapsulate the complete range of Cisco’s product and services offerings.Despite these design challenges, I was still able to maintain a high level of hands on configuration and trouble shooting experience and achieved high levels of formal Cisco certification (CCIE, CCDA, CCNA, CCDP, CCNP, Voice Specialization & Security Specialization), along with other specialized courses (Advanced IS-IS, Advanced BGP, Advanced OSPF, Metro DWDM, Advanced IP Multicast, etc).

At FORE systems (A networking product’s manufacturer of ATM and EDGE Ethernet Switching) my primary activity was to support the internal sales teams, channel partners and a large number of end customers. Although my role was mainly focused at pre-sales solution design activities, my past networking experience lead to an equal involvement in post sales project integration and support. All aspects of network design, implementation, management, strategic direction, budgeting, proposals, RFI’s, RFP’s and ITT’s formed part of my functions along with technical education services. Detailed Market and technology positioning along with technology/application evolution were also key completes of my role.

I was personally responsible, on a contracted arrangement, for the dealing systems within a number of banks including the Bank of England, Barclays de Zoete Wedd, Klienwort Benson etc, and because of this I had a high customer profile. The systems I maintained were Ethernet and fibre optic based, financial systems utilizing LAN/WAN data connection protocols.
