I joined Cluttons in 2019 and set up both the Compulsory Purchase and Lease Advisory services lines. From a standing start both services have grown in terms of income, client base, team members and UK coverage. My experience in providing lease advisory advice has included advising corporate, public sector and private clients across the UK. This has included acting as Expert Witness for UK Parliament on 2 arbitration references involving a 60,000 sq.ft office in Victoria. In respect of Compulsory Purchase, over the last 19 years I have worked on a wide range of major UK infrastructure projects including road, railway, town centre redevelopment schemes, and regeneration schemes, as well as working with energy and utility companies. This has included advising both Acquiring Authorities and Claimants particularly on the London 2012 Olympics CPO, Crossrail and Thames Tideway Tunnel DCO. More recently I have advised on the Lower Thames Crossing DCO, and High Speed 2 (HS2) whilst also given strategic land assembly advice to a number of London Local Authorities and developers on regeneration schemes in London.In 2019 I successfully pitched and secured a place on the Heathrow Airport 3rd Runway DCO land acquisition framework. Partner in the Professional team dealing in Landlord and Tenant matters with particular emphasis on City rent reviews and lease renewals. This included multiple arbitration cases and expert witness referrals. Over the 4 years I also acted on numerous infrastructure and regeneration compulsory schemes including London Power Tunnels 2, High Speed 2 and Crossrail. This included as Independant Expert on the West Hendon Regeneration Scheme between residents and acquiring authority and leading on a £30m+ complex land swap deal involving multiple freehold and leasehold interests on another scheme. I was also instructed as an expert on a land/quay valuation dispute in Middlesbrough in the North East, whilst continued to act for the PLA on all estate matters across the River Thames.

Worked in the CBRE Compulsory Purchase team advising predominately acquiring authorities on major infrastructure projects including the Thames Tideway Tunnel Project, High Speed 2 (HS2), Crossrail and the London 2012 Olympic CPO. Particular emphasise on negotiating acquisitions by private treaty and removing objectors pre powers. Also included advice on the implementation of powers and the possession process, settling compensation claims and property cost estimates. Provided advice to Thames Water on the £4.2bn Thames Tideway Tunnel Project running 30km west to east of London following the River Thames. Work included property acquisition, consultation, DCO inquiry attendance, Open Space inquiry work and attendance, stakeholder agreements and compulsory purchase and compensation advice. Provided support two days a week to the TTT property team from the projects main office in Paddington and included input in to the schemes Exceptional hardship policy for affected residents. Property lead for Victoria Embankment and Blackfriars Sites. Assisted in the representation of the Greater London Authority in the settlement of ‘Olympic’ compensation claims proceeding to the Upper Tribunal (Lands Chamber). which included significant involvement in the Upper Tribunal (Lands Chamber) decision of "Halpern, Gladwell, Clearun and others v Greater London Authority" - Clearun Wharf, 151 Marshgate Lane, Stratford, London E15 2DT.

Advised CPO claimants affected by the Network Rail (Thameslink 2000) Order 2006, High Speed Two (HS2), Crossrail Act 2008 , Grahame Park Regeneration Order 2007, Haggerston West and & Kingsland Order 2008, City of Liverpool Order 2004, Liverpool Hall Lane Strategic Gateway Scheme Order 2005 and Stonegrove and Spur Road Regeneration Project Compulsory Purchase Order 2011.Acted on behalf of 15 claimants affected by the Lower Lea Valley, Olympic and Legacy Order 2005 in Stratford East London from 2006 – involvement in site finding and relocating businesses throughout East London, Essex and Kent.
