I had two spells at PwC. From February 2000 to June 2011, I focused on delivering major education programmes, as well as advising the UK education department, and carrying out education research studies. For example:- We delivered the national 'Teacher Workload Study', in collaboration with the Professional Associations and OFSTED, to understand and address the causes of unnecessary workload. - I led the Department for Education's Behaviour Improvement Programme. We worked in detail with 136 local authorities and around 900 schools, to help them put in place improved approaches to behaviour management, and to reduce exclusions and absences- We conducted a five year independent longitudinal study of Academy performance- I spent two years seconded to the National College of School LeadershipMost recently, from January 2015 to August 2016, I set up the Greater London Assembly 'Getting Ahead London' to find and develop future school leaders for London. The programme has already managed to recruit a highly diverse and talented group of aspirant headteachers, and paired them with experienced education leaders as coaches. In addition, both the coaches and the participants benefit from access to elements PwC's leadership talent development programmes and through the GLA they are connected to the civil, business and wider public service networks of London.During this period I also led the establishment of the Sheffield City Region 'Skills Bank', a unique facility which allows employers in the region access to European and UK funding to grow their business by developing the skills of their workforce.I also worked with organisations as diverse as Career Wales, the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM), and with colleagues in Africa, the Middle East, Australia, Vietnam and Singapore.
