Chris Jepp is a NSW Regional Practice Director -Quality Engineering at Planit Testing. I worked with Chris on Auto Trader's largest software development project this year (2010), Owner Reviews. Owner Reviews was a 6 month software development project to provide user generated content on autotrader.co.uk, a first for the website. Chris was lead tester on Owner Reviews, and in addition was responsible for providing pre & post-release support. In his role as QA, Chris was thorough in testing Owner Reviews features, frequently liaising with analysts, developers and Business stakeholder to ensure the acceptance criteria was implemented correctly. Chris' main contribution to testing was on the new "sychroniser" application and process that downloaded reviews from the 3rd party moderation application. Chris developed a thorough understanding of the moderation business process to identify key boundary cases when obtaining reviews. Chris advised the team's developers on the appropriate acceptance tests to write, and ensured that the application had sufficient levels of test automation. Chris also documented the process for testing the application. Chris had a key role in managing the application and constituent database deployments, and took the initiative to compile a document capturing the "path to live" for Owner Reviews. The document ensured all application releases, database releases, and application configurations were executed in a correct and timely manner (for deployment to both test and production environments), and that all database cron jobs were set up correctly. Chris also frequently liaised with the Operations department in preparation for the release. Chris was a key contributor to improving testing process at Auto Trader (e.g. arranging & faciliting process improvement workshops), and embraced agile development practices. He is an advocate of team collaboration as a means of ensuring the quality of software features."
