About Christopher Leonard

After completing the Bachelor of Business Administration program at Vancouver Island University (VIU), I began to look into roles that reflected what I had learned during my education journey.My first stop was as a Fare Box & Supplies Clerk at BC Transit, where I gained valuable knowledge in how larger organization operate and deepened my understanding of the Office environment. After my task was complete at BC Transit, I took some time to really understand what made me feel engaged and gave me a sense of accomplishment. I tinkered with starting a business with my father, taking extra education through Udemy, and generally deliberating on what made me want to get out of bed in the morning. This came back to two items: helping people in a bigger picture sense, and research.I began to actively look into roles in Government and Research roles. This landed me at the Victoria location of R.A. Malatest & Associates Ltd., working with their Data Validations team on the largest Origin Destination study in the world (the Transportation Tomorrow project). This was a fantastic learning experience. The Data Validations team was top notch and gave me a true feeling of belonging, with a strong understanding that the value to the data we worked with was of high importance.I continued to work with the Data Validations team through the Capital Regional District Origin Destination study, before moving to a Supervisor role in the Survey House department. As a Supervisor, I am met with completely different challenges, goals, and a new type of team dynamic. I thoroughly enjoy this position and have the utmost respect for my team and our direct report.In my downtime, I am working on building my understanding of programming languages, such as Python and C, to further round out my skill set. I have signed up with Github [https://github.com/LeonardChristopher] to collaborate and create interesting projects to not just accomplish this goal, but to assist in the bigger picture.
