OBS focuses on business and technology strategies and solutions and employs over 240 professionals in six offices across North America.Mass IngenuityMar 2016 - Sep 2016Portland, Oregon AreaAs a consultant employed by Online Business Systems I am currently working with Mass Ingenuity to develop their first cloud based data warehouse sourced from their NOW Management System. Leveraging Azure SQL Database and Azure Data Factory, I am constructing an enterprise level data warehouse that will serve as the keystone in delivering customers' analytics.

As a consultant employed by Online Business Systems I worked with the Seattle Police Department (SPD) to enable them to comply with public record requests for Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) GPS data related to patrol car activity and locations. I implemented complex rules to redact GPS data, preventing sensitive data from being made public. Utilized Microsoft SQL Server, SSIS and geospatial queries and analysis to create a complex redaction engine.

As a consultant employed by Online Business Systems I am currently working with the Energy Trust of Oregon (ETO). ETO has launched the Integrated Solutions Implementation Project (ISIP). The goals of this project are to realize improvements in processes, systems and data. From a data warehousing and business intelligence/analytics point of view this has involved modeling an enterprise data warehouse, evolving the existing data warehouse (Kimball star schema) to leverage the new systems and data structures. Additionally, ETO is modernizing their DW/BI environment by moving away from BusinessObjects. This will entail replacing their existing Universes, InfoView, Web Intelligence, Crystal Reports, and Data Services with the Microsoft stack of BI tools.

The Department of Oregon State Police provides premier public safety services through enhancing livability and safety by protecting the people, property and natural resources of the state. As a consultant employed by Online Business Systems I worked with the Oregon State Police on their data warehousing and business intelligence projects. Because of their existing investment in Microsoft technologies, OSP chose to leverage SQL Server 2012 to support their data warehousing and business intelligence environment. The need for an easy to use and familiar interface was critical. For that reason, Excel 2013 was selected as their self-service BI reporting tool. An enterprise caliber extract transform and load (ETL) system was created using Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services, and multidimensional cubes were created in using Microsoft SLQ Server Analysis Services. The data warehouse solution contains millions of records, source from five different systems.

As team lead we creating an enterprise level data warehouse and business intelligence solution for Integra utilizing the Kimball Methodology and the Microsoft stack of BI tools. This project includes creating the dimensional model and physical data warehouse on SQL Server and using Integration Services to develop the ETL (extract, transform, and load) system. Additionally, I am responsible for creating cubes, calculated measures, actions, partitions, and KPIs using SQL Server Analysis Services. Additional responsibilities include: defining product vision and scope, project architecture, leading executive interviews, sitting on the steering committee, project management, project estimations, and team mentoring.

CBA(NASDAQ: BREW) is an independent, publicly traded craft brewing company that was formed with the merger of leading Pacific Northwest craft brewers – Widmer Brothers Brewing and Redhook Ale Brewery – in 2008. I lead the effort to migrate CBA’s data warehouse and business intelligence environment to the latest version of a beverage solution (GreatVines) build on the Force.com platform.

I partnered with the OSP to develop a system wide modernization roadmap for their CRIMEvue systems. CRIMEvue is the central database system used for the Law Enforcement Data Systems (LEDS) transactions and provides data to heterogeneous systems across the state. The roadmap will includes future state technology and architectural concepts, cost-benefit and ROI analysis, and project estimations for the future state solution.

ODOT TOCS Upgrade Project – Screen-to-Screen The TOCS Upgrade Project enables screen-to-screen operator communications between the Oregon State Police (OSP) and the ODOT TOCS system. The ODOT Transportation Operations Center System (TOCS) provides a unified, statewide platform for around the clock coordination of transportation related services between internal and external customers. I was responsible for the development of the software components, services, and database modification to meet the functional objectives of the system.

Acting as senior consultant for a $20 million project creating a suite of products for TransCanada Corporation. TransCanada is a publicly traded company with over $43 billion of total assets and is the leading energy infrastructure company in North America. This suite of products, PacificExpress, will replace TransCanada’s existing billing, scheduling, contracting, credit and risk, and reporting systems. The PacificExpress Billing project replaces the legacy billing system with a highly integrated state of the art solution. This system is integrated with the scheduling, contracting, and general ledger systems also developed by Online Business Systems. As Senior Consultant on the project my specific areas of involvement include custom application development, system integration, data warehousing and dimensional modeling, reporting, business intelligence, and application lifecycle management.

PFSC provides a full range of systems and processing services including primary and backup servicing, tax, technical consulting, and default management. As manager of software development and systems architect I was a technically focused leader responsible for defining system requirements, managing projects and team members, creating software architectures and leading development efforts. My team and I were primarily focused on developing solutions using Microsoft Visual Studio and related Microsoft technologies. Subsequently, we developed solutions utilizing open source technologies. Key accomplishments include: data warehousing, data conversions and integration, and application development.
