The Way From Nurse To BloggerI’m Chris Kapsa and I’ve been around hospitals, nursing and medicine forever. Well, fifty years, so close enough. Started as a “candystriper” hospital volunteer at fourteen. Began nursing school at eighteen. The major change? Graduating from red-striped pinafores to blue-striped ones.I worked as a hospital staff nurse. Owned my practice as a nurse practitioner for twenty-five years. I spent two years as a bureaucrat, toiling on the dark side. Also known as the health insurance industry. Punctuated the years with bouts of grad school.I love to write. I love computers. I’m an outspoken Yankee, though I live in the West now. Blogging is a perfect fit. So I sit in front of two Macs, use less gas and drink more coffee than ever. The dogs are thrilled.A great deal about American health care has changed in the past half century. One thing hasn’t. People still need expert, compassionate care given by nurses and doctors they know and trust.
