Chris Kardos is an independent consultant offering services in the utility and information technology industries. He is currently providing CIM-based integration services for transmission, distribution, and generation systems. His current clients include Southern California Edison and the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI). Chris is a subject matter expert and actively participates in the development of IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) standards involving the CIM (Common Information Model). Prior to his current engagements, Chris architected and led implementation of an improved BC Hydro SMI-OMS integration solution employing advanced filtering and meter interrogation functionality to overcome AMI technology limitations, eliminate false-positive outage indications and achieve faster and more accurate outage detection. He also developed and conducted a 4-hour course on AMI-OMS Integration at DistribuTECH 2015 Utility University.From 2007 through 2013, Chris served as the Director of Product Strategy for Ecologic Analytics, LLC, a leading provider of meter data management and related software for electric, gas and water utilities. Prior to joining Ecologic Analytics in late 2007, Chris was an EDS Distinguished Systems Engineer and the Chief Architect for EDS’ Energy practice. He was also the technical lead for EDS’ Advanced Metering Infrastructure offering. Chris has over 40 years of experience supporting the utilities and nuclear power industries, including 8 years as an independent consultant. He has served as the technical lead for a number of successful information technology projects and consulting engagements and has consistently achieved high levels of customer satisfaction through delivery of successful solutions, service excellence, and innovation. Chris is the principal inventor on five US patents.
