DFA pioneered the social innovation network. Its campus studio model has produced over 1600 initiatives that range from local community projects to global companies, all connected by a collaborative design process that has been validated by NSF-funded research and America’s highest design honor from the Smithsonian's National Design Museum.

We conceived and built mobile and wearable computing solutions that would be viable in 3-10 years. Led the conception and team that created Carnegie Mellon's first wearables program, Vū man, an early definition of augmented reality (Cyberspace Lexicon, 1994). The EDRC (Engineering Design Research Center) was an NSF Research Center with a 10 year charter.
