The UWA Sustainability Strategy is a holistic and whole of institution strategy aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs) and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles. The objective of the UWA Sustainability Strategy is to embed sustainability across UWA’s education, research, campus operations, engagements and partnerships and mandatory Environmental, Social and Governance reporting.In this role I am responsible for leading the development and implementation of the strategy. I am required to work alongside senior executives, management teams, advisory groups, and grassroots communities across 5 portfolios, 22 schools, and 34 business units, impacting over 25,000 students and 5000 staff across multiple physical and online locations i.e., Crawley campus, Albany campus, online learners.I report directly to the UWA Sustainability Committee, University Executive and Senate.

Uniting the University’s world-class teaching, research and student experiences and partnering with communities the UWA Grand Challenges is an ambitious program seeking solutions for Climate Change and A More Just and Equitable World. The United Nations Regional Centre of Expertise on Education for Sustainable Development (Western Australia) is a network of leaders in sustainability research, training and education, working towards social, economic and environmental sustainability using education as a central tool. UNRCEs aspire to achieve the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals by building innovative ways for diverse organisations to work together to share information and collaborate.Responsibilities included management of 2 level 6 project officers, multidisciplinary project teams and 2 interagency sustainability hubs in Perth and Albany. Other duties included developing maintaining a high-level communications strategy, coordinating the UWA Grand Challenges Champions program, developing signature events, establishing new partnership opportunities, exploring avenues for collaboration, representing UWA on internal and external committees, events and networks, managing operational budgets, reporting to senior executive and the UWA Senate.

Education Strategy is a program of transformational work to support the UWA 2030 Vison and the 2020-2025 Strategic Plan. The program consists of a range of strategic projects and key initiatives. In this role I managed 1 senior project officer and 5 project officers, some of my responsibilities included, managing, implementing and preparing project plans, including project schedules, stakeholder management, communication plans, implementation plans, and project governance. Other duties included, developing and maintaining high level stakeholder relationships, submitting reports to the University executive and the Foundation, managing project grants and staff expenditure, conducting high level internal and external consultations, addressing complex institutional issues and solve problems which reflect the opportunities and constraints of an academic organisation.

In my role as Partnership Manager of the Aspire UWA program my team and I worked with 70 partner schools and communities in regional Western Australia and Perth to raise aspirations for tertiary education for students from identified equity pathways. The programs major aim is to encourage students who would not normally consider university to see the benefits and opportunities that university study offers. Responsibilities included maintaining strong relationships with 70 partner schools across Perth, Peel and Regional Western Australia, coordination of the engagement strategy including school visits, regional visits, on campus activities, camps, teacher PD, student leadership program, and managing operational budgets.
