    Square Installments, Square's first consumer lending program.I led the team responsible for loan servicing which covers loan origination, interest accrual, fee assessment, payment processing, and borrower dashboard. I collaborated with the servicing PM to set OKRs and team roadmap. I oversaw a reimplementation of the main Installments servicing logic, working with domain experts to a simplified system.After a series of issues were discovered in the Installments code base, I led an effort to catalog, triage and fix issues while simultaneously improving system reliability, correctness and time to recovery. When issues negatively affected borrowers, I led analysis and borrower remediation. This was done in collaboration with Legal and Finance teams to ensure all issues were thoroughly documented for regulators.I took on engineering projects to improve loan payment rates, implemented underwriting experiments for the risk team, and improved the customer support dashboard for borrowers.I provided technical direction and led the project to report borrower behavior and standing to credit reporting agencies.

I collaborated on API infrastructure including the OAuth service, the backing store for the Items Catalog API, and rate limiting. Worked with product engineering teams to define API principles which guide all developer APIs. Launched partnership with Intuit to retrieve a Square Merchant's transaction data into Quickbooks using the Developer APIs. Promoted to Engineering Manager responsible for Developer APIs and App Marketplace engineering teams (10 engineers). Decided strategy, roadmap and staffing. Collaborated with Partnerships team to identify and support API partners. Championed a Developer API First strategy to company leadership and across engineering teams. Internal teams started to use the Developer APIs for simplified access to other internal services.

Implemented activation flows for Canada and Japan on the new service. Integrated with multiple external vendors and banking partners for identity verification and KYC compliance.Successfully moved identity verification service into the new datacenter with zero downtime, becoming the first non-payment and non-Java service to make the transition. This required working with NetEng to understand traffic routing differences, and supporting two different datacenter specific deployment systems.
