I have always served as key writer and marketing strategist in whatever professional role I've had. Fresh out of college, I moved into the corporate world in a junior account management role. Within five years, I found my niche in marketing and spent 8 years in a lead marcom management role. Wanting to return to my original loves (writing and media), I found an opportunity that arose to write for the Tampa Tribune in its marketing department and I jumped at the chance. In my two Tribune roles, I got the opportunity to work with the three news platforms (Tribune, WFLA News Channel 8 and tbo.com) as well as interview local personalities, businesses and professional athletes. In early 2008, Media General purchased the franchising rights to skirt! magazine for the Tampa Bay market, and I applied and was selected for the role of editor. I got the opportunity to interview smart, respected women in the Tampa Bay area and highlight important events and programs designed to make a difference in other people's lives. Unfortunately, the magazine went on hiatus following distribution after one year (April 2009) but a few months later, I was contacted to resume profile and event writing duties on a freelance basis for an online version of the magazine, www.tampabayskirt.com, which I produced for the next year. During this time, I began working regularly for a local marketing company, Ballywho. to build social media content and carve out meaningful messages for businesses hoping to tap into new or changing markets. I also went to work for Tampa Bay Parenting Magazine shortly afterward to create relevant content for area moms as the magazine's neighborhoods and calendar writer.As a freelance writer, I continue to seek opportunities where my content development services and storytelling talents can serve an organization well and support its goals.
