As a research assistant in the computer science department, I developed software to automate the execution of quantum circuits on IBM Q machines to aid in the analysis of hybrid classical-quantum algorithms. Currently, I am working with a small team to leverage UChicago computing resources to run machine learning algorithms that translate quantum circuits into optimal physical control pulses. Through the process of working on these projects, I have been learning about quantum algorithms and the limitations of noisy intermediate-scale quantum computation.

I worked with Senior Traders to assist with and learn about all facets of proprietary trading, with a specific focus on fixed-income instruments. Through the course I my internship, I worked on research project using Python and Excel to measure and analyze the fill quality of different market making and relative value strategies. I also developed a backtesting framework to analyze several fixed income trading strategies and presented my findings to traders. I was trained formally in the firm’s relative value arbitrage, market making, and risk management strategies, and learned about how they are implemented in industry.

I leveraged Python and web technologies to develop original proprietary solutions that aid college graduates in renewable energy with networking and the job search process. I designed and implemented software to aggregate and analyze data about young professionals working in renewable energy, and helped with various digital tasks such as video editing and code maintenance. Later in my internship, I designed, documented, and implemented a unique data management algorithm with the goal of submitting for a patent.
