Archstone Foundation is a 30-year-old private grantmaking organization whose mission is to contribute towards the preparation of society in meeting the needs of an aging population. It has championed initiatives in fall prevention, the prevention of elder abuse & neglect, spirituality in palliative care, and most recently launched the Depression in Late-Life Initiative to improve depression care for older adults. Since its inception, Archstone Foundation has awarded over 1,100 grants totaling more than $117 million.

Working in Partnership with New York City's Department for the Aging (DFTA), the Aging in New York Fund is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for older New Yorkers and their families.As Vice President of HealthCare Services, I was responsible for creating the infrastructure and capacity to enable NYC's non-profit aging services organizations to deliver more and better care to older adults and people with disabilities. • Developed an 11 member non-profit contracting network - CommunityCare Link• Created standardized service models (e.g., falls reduction, chronic care management) • Led business contracting - pricing, performance standards, IT infrastructure• Marketed services to Medicare Advantage and Managed Long-Term Care Plans

The Foundation's mission is to improve the health of older Americans. Responsible to the board of trustees for advancing this mission through grantmaking, communications, policy/advocacy, and leadership in the field.At the John A. Hartford Foundation I led development of policy, strategy, and partnerships to advance the Foundation's mission. Managed and coached an outstanding team of professionals, support staff, and consultants to advance social change through grantmaking, evaluation, and communications. Responsible for $20-30 Million in annual grants and an operational budget of ~$1,000,000. I have particular expertise in leadership development, program evaluation, and disseminating innovative approaches to care for high need/high cost populations as part of health reform’s shift from volume to value. Experience in primary care redesign, home-based care, mental health, and long-term care.Results:• Top 1% ratings for “impact on field” from Center for Effective Philanthropy Grantee Perception Report 2008, 2010, and 2014.• Won 2012 Federal Social Innovation Fund Grant ($3 million) for replication of integrated mental health care.• Spokesperson for Foundation mission and work (e.g., Brookings Institution, Health Affairs, National Health Policy Forum). • Editor/writer health AGEnda, foundation blog (www.jhartfound.org/blog), over 200 posts personally.• Developed coordinated communications strategy, JHARTFOUND (blog, Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter).• Board Chair, Grantmakers in Aging 2013-2015.
