I provide leadership and management of all certification examination functions for ABFAS. I direct the planning and administration of all ABFAS examination activities, including item development process, test administration, analysis, and reporting. I work with the ABFAS exam committees and psychometrician to implement the design, testing, and development of new examination systems and improvements to existing examination systems.

Currently, my team is analyzing each of our programs to assess growth and retention patterns as well as exploring how individual certificants ascend (or not) through their programs. • Collaborating with other leaders in a partnership of CWEA and the California-Nevada Section of AWWA, working on an emerging certification program for operators that use advanced water treatment technologies. This certification program will have many potential applications, the most important of which is the ensuring the competency of our future direct potable reuse (DPR) plant operators.• Leading a wonderful group of subject matter experts to update CWEA’s Environmental Compliance Inspector (ECI) certification exams and study guide publications. This project is having a significant impact on rebuilding stakeholder confidence in the ECI program. • Leading my team on a number of process improvements that are resulting in faster exams results processing and reporting, personalized emails to candidates, and collaboration between CWEA’s certification and customer service & membership departments. • Maintaining relationships with regulators and keeping up with legislation affecting CWEA certificate holders.Latest Accomplishments:• Wrapped-up a great FY 15-16 with certificate applications 18% over goal and recertifications 3% over goal. • Implemented an experimental lapsed certificant campaign that brought in about $10k of additional revenue this year. We’ll use this as a model for a new ongoing certificant retention program going forward. • As part of a cross-functional team focused on a staff reorganization, I held a lead role in the successful design and implementation of a new customer service team for CWEA’s membership and certification departments.
