It was early 2018. Bitcoin over the previous 12 months went from $900 to $19k. A friend of mine raised $17M in Etherium in an ICO to fund his crypto startup. As I studied crypto & blockchain I became obsessed. I had to be part of this. It was difficult to find work as it was EARLY days. Everyone was looking for engineers. The only operating business models were based around trading. Eventually, I was introduced to the CEO of Efficient Frontier, a high-frequency trading shop out of Tel Aviv that had entered crypto on the back of a successful 13 years in the traditional (fiat) world. After a couple of video calls with the CEO I ran to SFO and jumped on a 15-hour flight to Tel Aviv to meet them. That was it. I was deep in crypto! The work was fascinating. Algorithmic trading, finance travel around the world (Hong Kong, Singapore). Unfortunately, as crypto prices remained low many businesses were unable to fund operations. I left crypto as the business climate became difficult. I may return someday.Here are some of my accomplishments:- Generated over $2 MM in revenues in the first 12 months (from $0) as the first employee in the U.S- Closed deals with 20 of the top digital assets (ICON, Loopring) and exchanges in crypto (FTX, CoinFlex)- Built an extensive rolodex of relationships (750+ contacts) with a broad set of players in the cryto & blockchain ecosystem including crypto venture firms, blockchains, DeFi, exchanges, and various projects
