Recruited to provide IT leadership (Globaly) including inventory control, procurement, support, disaster recovery, upgrades, system planning, design and integration. Re-architected the network based on eDirectory, integrated with Windows, Exchange, Solaris and Red Hat Linux. Designed an Enterprise SAN solution. Migrated from manual AIT II to LTO Library with Veritas NetBackup. Implemented Cisco PIX, DMZ and installed VPN services using IPSec & 3DES 164bit encryption. Accepted a pivotal leadership role in the upgrade and staff transitioning of QAD/MFGPro from 8.6 to EB ERP software, from a non-redundant stand-alone server, to a Sun based clusterable solution. Authored corporate policy regarding hiring/termination practices for IT, email and Internet usage, equipment acquisition and disposition (recycling) and network security best practices. Enforced standards for servers, desktops, laptops, printers and network equipment, software, operating systems and security.

Provided system engineering and project management expertise for the roll out of the corporate data center and the support contract management web software (supportcontracts.com). I managed all Solaris servers; worked with QA to deploy approved code changes between development, testing and production server environments (iPlanet webservers, BEA Weblogic, and Oracle). Helped simplify the code deployment process through implementation of CVS software. Implemented the companies VPN and extranet which connected the corporate offices with the data center and allowed remote access for the engineers using secure hardware and software solutions. I also managed all redundant Cisco networking equipment, including Local Directors for load balancing, Cisco PIX Firewalls, Routers and Layer3 switches with VLANs, and used SiteScope for system monitoring.

Accountable for IT maintenance activities for all 26 district wide locations (A heterogeneous WAN based on Novells Directory Services using LDAP integration). Prioritized service requests, dispatched IS personnel and coordinated with outside contractors to ensure timely delivery of projects. Evaluated and recommended equipment purchases for network infrastructure. Single-handedly rolled out the upgrade to Netware 4.11 from a mix of Netware Personal, Netware Lite & 3.x into a single tree for centralized management. Assisted with Sun Servers for individual school sites Web & Email using the Netscape Enterprise Server on Solaris. Directed the Library system upgrade of Ameritechs Dynix system. Designed the districts IT Intern program. Selected to serve on the Technology Committee and aided in development of long-range goals and objectives (including adoption of a city objective to share a fiber deployment for potential multi-gigabit connectivity between school sites).
