I've been an In total I have something like 25 years of experience in software design, development, testing, operations and team/product/project management at both non-financial and financial services firms in both the US and the UK.I started 25 years ago as a junior Java developer, worked up through senior dev to tech lead and then moved to a different firm looking for new challenges - this time working primarily on web front end systems. After a department shut down I took a Java/Oracle SWE role at UBS Investment Bank, looking for more challenge and an intro to the financial tech world. During a very tough economic period I worked on the firm's global general ledger systems, ultimately running a multi-region dev team maintaining and expanding the systems to address the rapidly evolving regulatory environment.After 6 years at UBS I was again looking for a new challenge, and Bridgewater reached out to see if I was interested in joining the firm, and it was exactly what I needed. I held multiple different roles over the eight years I worked there, flexing to and learning from each: tech project management, operations team lead, senior SWE, SusEng tech lead and EngProd tech lead - working on applications/devops/build systems across Azure and AWS to support the BW Investment Engine Technology group. Bridgewater was an incredible journey - but it came time to move on, and I spent most of a year exploring the contracting world before finding the right next role, at Altana.I love to learn, I like to keep my hands 'dirty', I enjoy teasing apart gnarly problems that seem to defy solution, and I love doing all of that with a smart, motivated team around me, from whom I can learn just as much as I teach.
