About Chris Grant

I've been designing since I was in high school, but formally, I'm a product designer with 10 years of experience, who's designed for 1 billion+ consumer and enterprise users at small scrappy startups (<10 people), medium sized companies, and large global companies. My work has been featured at Google IO, Google's Official Blog, Fast Company, Wired, Forbes, Bleacher Report, Techcrunch, and other tech blogs as well as premiere features for devices like the Pixel 7.I have a broad depth of experience designing world class experiences across platforms and devices. I've lead teams and created solutions and tackled problems relating to expression, media, transaction, personalization, discovery, search, browsing, multi-modal communication, voice communication, conversational ui, intelligent agents, internationalization, accessibility, information density, information scarcity, user journeys, travel and rentals, animation, motion design, on-demand realtime service design, systems design, green technology, seamless multi-device contexts, and government regulations. I love making new things at a 0 to 1 capacity as well as making existing things even better. My tool kit is expansive. I have a background in human centered design, statistics, front end test driven development, and business development. Paired with my design abilities, I'm able to make and test hypotheses, run and construct user research, infer from data and optimize funnel metrics, design end to end, prototype rapidly with a variety of tools, easily test builds and collaborate with engineers, sometimes helping in code, and propose both problem framing and solution space opportunities to product and stakeholders at large. As a side interest in venture, I have been angel investing for several years and now a venture scout for Headline. 1St Frontend Engineer + Design Intern

San Francisco, Ca, Us

I took leave from school to be the first ever front-end engineering and design intern for early stage Lyft (under 70 employees and operating in just a dozen cities). While I was an intern, I was effectively the second front-end developer while Lyft was early and experiencing hypergrowth. My web and visual design works spanned the product ecosystem and a variety of users from drivers, customers, support staff, and region launchers, whether in app, for the official Lyft website, emails, driver facing processes, internal support tools, and other aspects of the user experience. Notable projects included ride receipt emails, email unsubscribe flows, features for driver support, a public facing help site, driver on-boarding interactions, icon web font creation, and the design of a more robust internal tool for configuring and launching cities which helped Lyft to launch on the east coast and hit milestones for further regional launches.
