What’s the point of life? Every time I thought I’d die (there have been many) this question dominated my mind. For each of us answers are different but there are common themes. Finding meaning & purpose: When we have our ‘why’ the ‘how’ becomes easier. So, what’s my ‘why’? To help people make the best of their lives & do what they do better. Oh, & to spread kindness, sunshine & good humour, because life’s too short to go around with a bottom lip like a rolled up sleeping bag. The most unhappy people I know are totally self-focussed & ungrateful. I understand life does that sometimes & have every sympathy for people in that place. I’ve learned the importance of not being a victim & taking ownership. If everything’s my fault; I can do something about it. The happiest see the bigger picture, have a focus beyond themselves & are thankful for everything. I choose to be even more thankful for my left arm & left leg than I was before I lost my right arm & leg. That’s how I choose to see life & we often have more choices than we realise. I pursue wisdom. There’s always something to learn. A wise man once said… Oh I’m sorry I’ve forgotten what he said!Life’s about enthusiasm. The price of negativity is too high to pay. The two most infectious things I know: negativity & enthusiasm. I love life, interested in nearly everything but avoid the things I hate & am rubbish at, which is why I gave up attempting to be a professional harp player.I have a passion for the process of achievement, possibly because everything most people do takes me three times longer. When I was blown up family and friends said Chris Moon’s life is over- his total identity involves having two arms and legs. His loves running, gardening, hill walking, motorcycling & mending things. He lives for his work clearing landmines. I love my work even more now & by changing the way I thought, understanding the process achievement & working with others I can do all those things again. If you’re wondering how a one-armed one-legged man rides a motorbike the answer is very very carefully. We’re a gregarious species. When you’re dying you think of the people you love & those who’ve loved you & all you want is a little kindness. We shouldn’t wait to the end of our lives to recognize this truth. I love being part of a team. So, let’s make the best of it & party. I’ve had the good fortune to work all over the world with different nationalities, cultures & religions & I’ve realized our similarities are far greater than our differences. I became a #keynotespeaker #inspirational speaker and #motivationalspeaker because I lived through things, I’m told should have killed me. As a result of a landmine blast working for a charity in Mozambique I lost my lower right arm and leg. Did my first marathon within a year of leaving hospital in 1996 and became the first amputee to complete the world’s toughest footrace- Marathon Des Sables in 1997. Subsequently done many of the world’s toughest ultras including Badwater 135 miles in Death Valley. As a #keynotespeaker #motivational speaker and #inspirational speaker my delivery is humorous, upbeat and energising. Humour is one of our greatest coping mechanisms and where there’s laughter there’s learning. All my presentations and learning experiences are created to deliver desired outcomes.Initially I was asked to tell my story. It quickly moved from sharing the story to using my experiences to illustrate principles people can use every day to make the best of life and improve individual and team performance. I have a passion for the process of achievement and relentlessly pursue wisdom. As a #keynotespeaker I share experiences on the balance of life and death and limit of human endurance. These are useful because any pretence we have as human beings is stripped away and they clearly demonstrate principles. I’ve worked with psychologists and business schools so there’s academic rigour behind the principles. I spare the theory because people ask for the experience and the good stuff they can use. Surviving as a prisoner of the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia taught me a lot about people, communication and how to control our state of mind. Two of the key attributes of surviving and thriving are not being a victim and taking ownership. As a #motivationalspeaker I’m passionate about sharing experience and knowledge to enable people to do this.

With a 100% record of successfully leading whole groups to the summit and more importantly bringing everyone down safely again. It has been a life changing experience for many and given people the opportunity to raise significant amounts for charity.'Age 52 - it was likely I had more years behind me than ahead so I wanted to do stuff which would be different and challenging. When I heard Chris Moon was leading a group of up to 16 on a fund raising climb for Motivation (www.motivation.org.uk) I asked to be part & he warmly said yes. From the outset Chris’s ability to encourage and inspire individuals plus his leadership skills for the whole group were astonishing - this disparate bunch would have fallen apart within the first 3 days if it were not for Chris’s deep understanding of overcoming adversity. He successfully led all of us to the top and back down safely always with his own brand of care, humour and encouragement, made possible by a great and selfless man. On the really difficult bits we all kept saying to ourselves - If this guy with one arm and one leg never complains what right do we have to moan.
