Two years were spent on the National Catastrophe Team, handling auto and homeowner claims arising from events such as flood, tornado, hail, etc. My tenure at State Farm provided broad exposure to technical, medical and legal subjects on many levels and fostered the development of excellent communication and customer relation skills and strong negotiating techniques that are still used today. I also had direct supervision of support staff and trained new hires. Just prior to my departure, I developed detailed bodily injury claim evaluation procedures for the Texas region, which were incorporated into the “best practices” for auto claims handling.
