    Playa Vista, California, Us
Fullscreen’s mission is to help video creators make great content and get discovered. I joined as their head of product and design. My focus area there was to get their nascent subscription video app into market and finding its product/market fit. My focus was to drive a great user experience for our customers by focusing on speed, first time UX, social and paid marketing funnels, and thoughtful / timely push notifications. One of our best accomplishments was an experience we built where users could invite their friends into the app and watch a video together while chatting and hanging out together (called “Watch Party”). Customers loved this, it had some great growth hooks built in and we were early to market with an experience that other bigger players like Netflix and Facebook would deliver later.

Shipped the Yahoo Live concert product where we streamed a live show every week and users could join with their friends, chat and feel as if they were at the show.5. Shipped a sports highlights experience that grew Yahoo Sports streams over 2X YoY6. • Yahoo
Vice President / Snr Director Product Management - Yahoo News
    Yahoo Apr 2009 - Jan 2013
    Sunnyvale, Ca, Us
Yahoo! News mission was to keep our users informed about what was going on in their world. I was product lead for Yahoo News. We were the world's biggest news site according to Comscore. 1. We shipped a platform with well designed, blazing fast content experiences that worked on every phone and PC, globally in about 50 countries and 15 languages. We completely rebuilt News on this new platform and shipped it globally and this helped us drive high double digit gains in user growth and engagement after launch (3-4X gains on mobile mobile).2. We expanded this product to help power all of Yahoo's other media experiences like Sports, Finance and Entertainment. We eventually had 100s of engineers building on this platform and 100s of media experiences running on it. We shipped updates globally many times a week and could enter new markets in days because of the platform.3. We brought discussion / commenting back to Yahoo users globally, and we shipped a new content discovery product where our users could easily read content that their friends also read, and discover that content on Facebook. This product delivered about 30% growth in DAUs globally, with some smaller countries tripling their DAUs overnight.

  • Agillion Inc.
    Director, Finance
    Agillion Inc. 1999 - 2001
Agillion was a startup in Austin. Our product let SMBs share information with their customers via personalized web pages that could be created with a few clicks, featuring collaboration tools like message boards and groups. It was all web-based and priced via subscription so affordable.I started in a finance role. Basically, I ran “the model” which tracked where all of the money we raised was getting spent. It was a big job, because we spent a lot of money. Unfortunately we didn't really make any. I was pretty heavily involved in our very valiant effort to raise a $20M-ish Series C round. Helped make the pitches. Ran the due diligence process. Didn't work though. I stayed on after company downsized to help the CEO raise a $2M round for a new company. That round actually worked, although I left right before it closed. I took some time off, and then went to business school. The company was a famous failure in Austin but I had the great opportunity to work with some great thinkers and learn a massive amount about what it takes to run a 100-ish person business. It was here that I also started to make the leap into product management, out of my pure numbers role.
  • Ernst & Young Llp
    Senior Auditor
    Ernst & Young Llp Aug 1995 - Mar 1999
    London, Gb
My first job after college. Did 30 to 40 audits, mostly young tech companies in Austin. Great experience learning how a bunch of businesses work and managing people. Worked mainly in: Computer manufacturing, software, consumer lending, retail manufacturing, retail (stores) and venture capital. Learned a lot about software revenue recognition and stock option compensation, and how convoluted they are.Clients included Power Computing (first authorized cloner of Apple computers), EZCorp (owner / operator of 350+ pawn shops), Austin Ventures & Texas Growth Fund (VCs), Human Code (educational software), MyTech (occupancy-sensing lighting technology), and a bunch of others.Recommended for early promotion to manager. Opted for career change instead, moving to L.A. to go to music school while working my way into a start-up in Austin.
