There is no industry more dynamic in the world today than technology. As an IT leader, I am on the front lines of the technology revolution and the ever-changing new platforms, software and AI tools that can positively impact the businesses I serve. While I am always scanning the environment for new technologies that can advance business priorities, I spend equal time looking for tools that mitigate the increasing threats of cybersecurity. Cyber threats seem to be co-evolving with technology advancements and it is my role to secure my business while providing the flexibility for end-users to use technology to the fullest extent possible. Like many IT leaders, I am always seeking great technology solutions that don’t bog the organization down in licensing fees and restrictions. With that, I am a longtime proponent of open source software which is free, editable by large communities and peer-reviewed. This often results in patches being developed before gaps can be exploited.While remaining current with new technologies is a critical part of an IT leader's job, so is hiring and developing the team that delivers solutions and support to organizations. In fact, there is nothing more rewarding as a leader than to see a team member grow and receive an amazing promotion.
