After six months at epiGenesys, I was asked to broaden my role by also taking responsibility for the management of all business and educational activities. I expanded the software development team, and increased the company's project portfolio with a variety of customers, including local businesses, and departments and research groups within The University of Sheffield.

Alongside colleagues in the Department of Computer Science, I co-founded epiGenesys as a wholly owned subsidiary of The University of Sheffield. I became the company's technical manager, taking responsibility for the implementation and management of the systems infrastructure, and for the delivery of various software development projects. I also provided consultancy services to one of our first customers, the Sheffield Clinical Trials Research Unit.

I volunteered to join the board of trustees, and also accepted the role of treasurer.
