Since founding HAPGOOD CAPITAL, his firm has acquired 34 rental houses, all of which have been sold, and two suburban Memphis office buildings, one of which was sold in 2024. His current focus is sourcing investment opportunities in office/medical, neighborhood retail, and industrial flex buildings within the Memphis MSA and surrounding region.Chris began investing in real estate in 2006. In 2013, he transitioned from a corporate career into full-time real estate investing. Prior to 2013, Chris was a marketing director at Smith & Nephew, and before that was a senior process and project engineer at Eastman Chemical Company. He has a chemical engineering degree (B.S., 1989) from the University of Idaho and a business degree (M.B.A., 2003) from Vanderbilt University.Chris has lived in the Memphis area since 2003. He is active in the community and supports St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, the Soulsville Foundation, and The Heights Community Development Corporation. He and his wife, Sandra, have two daughters, a son, and two granddaughters.

As a Director of Marketing, Knees (2011-2013), Chris managed collaborative partnerships between the corporate leadership team and the regional teams in China, India, EMEA, and ASEAN with these markets achieving over 40% annual revenue growth during this period. As a Product Manager (2003-2010), Chris managed the JOURNEY II Total Knee System with global marketing responsibility. During this time, the team launched several major systems and the product line experienced over 300% in global sales growth. His earlier responsibilities included managing the PROFIX Total Knee System and launching several surgical navigation applications for hip and knee replacement surgery.

Chris served as the company's heat transfer specialist from 1992-2000. He supported numerous chemical plant expansion projects as the lead thermal design engineer and led several multi-disciplinary teams in creating best practices for heat exchanger design and selection. Chris served on the Technical Committee of Heat Transfer Research, Inc. from 1995 to 2000, and he was elected as a Director to AICHE's Transport and Energy Processes Division in 1998-1999. From 1996 thru 2001, Chris was a Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Tennessee.
