Some years ago I was called a “blue-sky”, forward thinker as if it was an insult by a manager locked in a permanent cycle of patching existing systems. Because I don't consider the phrase “if it ain't broke don't fix it” or a "fear of change" a valid reason not to optimize and expand on existing patterns and processes when there is additional value to be realized – the most enjoyable part is the challenge to identify, document, and make these improvements without disrupting the current workflow or incurring additional cost – it absolutely is possible and achievable. Throughout my career, I've learned by observation and practice what makes an effective transparent "leader" versus a "boss" only tending their own career.As a leader, I believe in facilitating and monitoring worker requirements without any micro-management, I welcome any occasion to get personally involved as a peer to resolve any urgent or complex requirements blocking workers (or if it will facilitate a more expeditious and successful outcome at the start) and learn the lessons to resolve future difficulties proactively. I focus on setting group up for success as a baseline personal goal and helping the group work harmoniously with others. I do not lead from above but from within, and make myself personally accountable for the successes and failings of the team.Instinctively, I always aspire for the seemingly impossible regardless of headwinds and have been thus provided many rare opportunities which proved fruitful for peers and the company in general and only 'ruffling the feathers' of or inadvertently expose leaders who seek to only create organizational opacity for a cozy personal work life. I believe in facilitating worker growth as a means for the whole enterprise to grow and have a competitive edge.I firmly believe in the “if you build it they will come” design philosophy and while built to spec within scope, there is -always- room for further proactive elaboration to drastically reduce the pattern of perpetually reacting to bug-fix/feature-request – which frees up the team to explore new capitalizable ideas within budgetary constraints. Anything less is fear, laziness, or short-sighted - Work Smarter, not Harder.I don't pretend to know everything but am eager to learn and am a quick study. My, 20+ years of experience in this and related fields have taught me to evaluate processes, ask why, and thrive in ambiguity to create clarity.
