About Chris Oldham

I’ve been in education going on 18 years, but I would argue I've been in it all my life. I was a poor kid growing up with no food, water, or electricity, trying to sneak food home to my 4-year-old brother who wasn’t in school. I learned at young age compassion, humility, and the value of hard work. My family later moved to the big city of Lubbock, Texas where I graduated from Monterey High School in 1999. After high school hard labor building banks quickly motivated me to start taking night classes at South Plains College. After two years of learning how to learn, I transferred to Texas Tech University. My experience in college was different from those of my peers. I was working for my father as a supervisor at West Texas Abatement, and as soon as class was over, I quickly made my way to the job site to suit up and get to work. Dirty, tired, and worn out from the day, I’d rush home to study. The love of learning came not only as an escape for my physically worn-out body but also fueled the dream of making a better life for my family which became more of my ambition after marrying my soul-mate, Katharine in 2005. My wife and I both graduated from Texas Tech University with a bachelor’s, and we were later hired by the fastest-growing school district via Forbes Magazine, in Frisco ISD. We spent 12 years in Frisco and were motivated to be life-long learners and were groomed by so many wonderful mentors leading me to the philosophy grounded in the Greek word, “enotita”, meaning unity. I was able to open new schools and serve as the athletic coordinator using the motto, “One Team, One Heartbeat, we are stronger together than we are apart.” Frisco grew my heart and philosophies to serve kids by knowing every student by name and need. It motivated me to pursue my master's in educational leadership and get my principal certification at Texas Tech University. Students' goal-setting and tracking of their own data became the topic and research for my thesis leading to discoveries of how to motivate the unmotivated learner. After graduating with my master’s in 2018, we were led back to North Texas in search of a small community that fit the philosophies I had been teaching for the past decade. The 2020-21 school year marked my first in CISD and I now serve as the AVID Director, Dean of Students at the alternative campus, which requires me to track student data and progress in reaching goals.

Listed skills include Lesson Planning, Classroom Management, Tutoring, Classroom, and 17 others.
