As a kid, I used to take apart every toy I could get my hands on in an attempt to understand how and why things worked the way they did and rebuild them. As with life, I sometimes would succeed and other times fail (my Sega Genesis never did work again). The failures never discouraged me though. I just needed to learn and adapt. I would say that my greatest successes in life come from that inquisitive nature and gave me the ability to adapt and recreate as needed.I had started my career largely in sales from a teenager selling door to door up to being a Sales Manager for an International wholesaler. Given its technical nature, it seemed like a complete mismatch. To my surprise, most people love to understand the hows and whys of products and services you're selling. As I progressed, I felt like more of an information broker than a salesman, explaining the finer details of a product. I adopted the phrase, "It's my job to empower you with the knowledge to make an informed decision." and use it to this day.I hit the Jackpot when I was approached by a factory to become a dealer of their merchandise. A very successful awning factory in Markham (whom we still use to this day) offered me an opportunity to start my own dealership. Naturally, my first question was, "How do they work?" It was like being a kid again. I visited their factory to learn all of the aspects of design in their products. We took them apart and studied everything from the aluminum grade to the fabric composition. Thus Canadian Shade was born.Since then, we are involved with multiple factories and regularly visit trade shows to further understand the nature of our industry and products. Today, we have taken all of that knowledge and brought it to the homes of thousands of customers. You will find me an excellent listener as I enjoy understanding a problem to find a solution. I also speak to problems in a grounded way, building a base of understanding to communicate information in a way that most people can get.So that's me in a nutshell. It's a pleasure to meet you. :-)

Key Account ExecutiveStudio Specialties Sep 2003 - Aug 2014289 Bridgeland Avenue, Toronto, OnI managed the Toronto location sales office and warehouse. I had the following 5 principle responsibilities:1. Forecasting - I would follow and forecast quantities and product styles for the company and report any findings to the buying team. Being a seasonal based business, the company leaned towards an annual purchasing model (purchase product once a year). In time, I implemented strategies to move them to a needs based purchasing model.2. Budget Control - I was responsible for many of the largest orders the company produced. These clients, being chain stores had specific demands that needed to be met. Free product distributions, internal trade shows and rebate strategies were some of the tools we used to entice businesses to purchase. I had to weight the cost of these strategies versus potential profit and make decisions to implement them.3. Creative Business Development - I would continuously look for new markets to present our product and new ways to present our product to existing markets. Using a combination social media, networking and conventional marketing, I would develop and implement new tactics to increase brand awareness and make sales.4. Thorough Business Planning - I started partnership with other companies to help both them and us mutually grow. Some of the companies including North Matrix (founder of the Seasons Christmas Show), Canadian Living Magazine and the reality show, Wedding S.O.S. By networking these partnership it helped increase the company's brand awareness for little cost.5. Understand the Retail Landscape - The bulk of the company's income comes from retail chain stores. I kept in touch with the industry, reading magazines like V.M.S.D. and Design Retail. I also regularly visited chain stores and shopping centres to strengthen my relationships with buyers by knowing their stores well.Using these tactics, I would build strong relationships with many of the company's customers, many of whom I still talk to even now.
