I currently lead a team of seven privacy professionals, providing project management oversight, career guidance, and constructive feedback, demonstrating strong leadership. My role involves managing data mapping for both internal and external information sharing, ensuring efficient processes and compliance with regulations such as CA Civil Code 1798, CJIS, PCI, CIMA, and CII standards. I've achieved significant results by leading leadership activities, reviewing work products, and advancing the Privacy Champion Center of Excellence, focusing on privacy by design.I manage privacy concerns and regulations in collaboration with elected officials and the public, delivering presentations on privacy topics at County Board of Supervisors meetings to foster informed discussions and decision-making. I also lead the Surveillance - Technology and Community - Safety Ordinance (A40), providing regular updates during public meetings.Notable achievements include co-leading technology reviews and breach response committees, improving cybersecurity and streamlining incident resolution. I formalized process flows and RACI for vetting new IT applications and data requests, working closely with privacy liaisons and business managers. Additionally, I strengthened privacy practices by conducting privacy impact assessments on medium- to high-risk systems and applications.I also enhanced operational efficiency within the generative AI working group, approving technology use cases and establishing policies and procedures in line with NIST SP 800-53, SP 800-122, and the NIST Privacy Framework. This work has led to improved privacy practices and security, ensuring alignment with best practices in both privacy and technology management.

Appointed on December 31, 2020, by the then-Acting Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Chad F. Wolf, to the Data Privacy and Integrity Advisory Committee (DPIAC). Reappointed to another three-year term on February 8, 2024, by Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, Alejandro N. Mayorkas.Members provide advice at the request of the Secretary and the DHS Chief Privacy Officer on programmatic, policy, operational, administrative, and technological issues within the DHS related to personally identifiable information, data integrity, and other matters related to privacy and cybersecurity.

I led a team of 21 cybersecurity experts, improving security and compliance by aligning with policies and standards. I managed resources and guided staffing decisions, setting clear performance expectations and goals. I enhanced third-party risk management and governance. Achievements include strengthening cybersecurity governance, aligning functions with priorities, improving staff performance, and facilitating vital conversations with stakeholders. I also contributed to developing security governance materials and analyzed complex security processes for risk areas and control points.

I've had the privilege of playing a pivotal role in our company's privacy journey, making sure that our incident response procedures were top-notch. This led to us handling privacy issues more effectively through thorough investigations. I established consistent and reliable privacy controls and practices across the board, ensuring compliance with various regulations like CCPA/CPRA, FOIA, GDPR, HIPAA, CIMA, FERPA, and PCI. Some of my key achievements include evolving and managing our cutting-edge privacy risk management framework, enhancing compliance and data protection measures in our highly regulated industry. I also streamlined operations with comprehensive policies, training, and incident management. As the HIPAA Privacy Official, I ensured the safeguarding of sensitive healthcare data and proactively identified and resolved privacy risks.
