In my spare time I do additional work on a freelance basis working on a range of bespoke projects from different industries; I use these opportunities to sharpen my skills and to try out different approaches and technologies that I may not have an opportunity to use in my usual 9-5 role. For most projects I undertake these are the common things I usually do:- Any new products that need building are built using the best tool for the job; this could be a full stack (front-end, back-end and database) or using an out of the box CMS for small projects.Often work is required to existing projects, this will require to quickly learn how it is built and to be deployed.- Each project is managed within a private GitHub repository (unless otherwise provided by the client), this allows me to manage tasks within its issue tracker and keep track of all changes that I make.

As the development lead I am responsible for the development and maintenance of all existing business applications in addition to the development of new projects, my main duties include:- Develop new SPA (single page applications) using JavaScript frameworks such as VueJS or React.- Develop new backend APIs using a microservice architecture in order to segregate ever growing functionality.- Maintain existing applications built in PHP (mostly with Laravel) with varied front-ends such as AngularJS and MySQL databases.- Liaise with other staff members and stakeholders to create sprints for upcoming work (typically 1-2 week sprints) and to ensure everything remains on track.Micromanage other developers within the team to provide support and task delegation.

Since becoming the senior developer on the team I take the lead on some projects from a development perspective and by attending the requirement meetings with the rest of the business.
