Population and Development International (PDI) is an international non-profit, non-governmental organization. PDI works with local institutions in Southeast Asia to reduce poverty, improve education and facilitate health and socio-economic development in rural settings. The IRS has recognized PDI as a charitable organization with 501(c)(3) status since September 1983, and has assisted institutions in Southeast Asia since then, overseeing the development of country programs and research activities in Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam. In Thailand, PDI’s main implementing partner is the Population and Community Development Association (PDA) – one of the largest NGOs in the country - renowned for its pioneering efforts in family planning, HIV/AIDS prevention & care, community development, education & poverty alleviation.PDI’s current emphasis is on helping to improve education in Southeast Asia with the spearhead of its endeavor in rural Northeast Thailand at the Mechai Bamboo School. PDI has assisted the Bamboo School to become a lifelong learning center for all - a gateway for social and economic advancement in communities surrounding the school. Students play an important role in the management of the school which empowers them “to bring economic development to their communities, as well as learn leadership, empathy and compassion”, as described by PBS’s NewsHour in February, 2019. The Bamboo School is launching a twinning program between a Thai school and a school on the border in Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar. The objective is to demonstrate to Thailand’s neighboring countries that they too can encourage their schools to become key actors in the improvement of the quality of life & income in surrounding communities.

The Reed-Cooke Neighborhood Association (“RCNA”) is a grass-roots 501(c)(3) community organization dedicated to promoting the quality of life of the residents of the Reed-Cooke Neighborhood.Located in the heart of world-famous Adams Morgan, the Reed-Cooke neighborhood is the geographical area bounded by 18th Street on the west, Columbia Road on the north, 16th Street on the east, and U Street on the south. RCNA is comprised of dedicated volunteers. We hold meetings and sponsor events where residents can get to know each other, discuss issues impacting the community, and experience all that the neighborhood has to offer.Membership in RCNA is open to any resident of the Reed-Cooke neighborhood. Annual dues of $15 entitles you to vote on matters raised at our meetings.

Brooklyn Research serves as a technology-driven hub and is an interdisciplinary creative space focused on technological innovation. We provide a platform for established artists, technologists, and researchers to create engaging discourse and experimentation. Through events, media, and workshops we hope to build an empowered community through an understanding of the technology that informs our daily lives.
