3k Associates, Inc is a software developer for the HP3k (HP3000) platform computers (no longer sold by HP) as well as a web services provider.3k has had over 200 enterprise customers for our electronic mail software on the HP3000 and dozens of consulting and training jobs, 2 international distributors, a premier HP channel partner, and exhibited at several HP World trade shows. As owner I managed a staff of up to 14 people and managed or oversaw all aspects of the operation including marketing, product development, documentation, technical support, and administration. I coordinated the eventual outsourcing of primary operations but still support the software and occasional back end technical support. 3k still operates about a dozen very well monitored servers including multiple DNS, email, ftp, vmware, and web servers and hosts several commercial web sites on our servers.

Joined Lockheed Martin when they won the new IT services contract at the U.S. Mint where I'd been a consultant for over 9 years.Team lead supporting the infrastructure (O&M) of over 300 servers and in particular the large VMWare ESX environment which runs over 95% of all systems - as well as all the network management software (OpenView, NetIQ, etc), Backup infrastructure (multi-site/multi-tape robots using NetBackup), and ~20Tb IBM DSS storage array.Sole system admin support for over 30 enterprise Linux servers and one Sun E15k platform with StorEdge 9950 (SAN) disk array.Lead the implementation of new robust nationwide NetBackup v6.5 infrastructure using hardware-encrypted LTO4 tape libraries. Was able to meet 100% daily system backup SLA of over 300 systems nationwide as mandated in LM services contract.One of the leads in developing processes to report on a wide variety of SLA metrics.Developed and tested new system delivery processes and checklists for O&M team. Created and managed the system inventory. Trained junior engineers in infrastructure components, monitoring tools, and Unix administration.Tech lead in designing the Mint's new lights-out/green and fully monitored consolidated data center which is now being used as an example for other agencies.Managed the 35Tb IBM DSS SAN.

Began as system administrator for the Mint's large HP3000 systems (running Ecometry/MACS) which ran the Mint's mailorder and Internet sales. Also developed and tested DR plans for HP3000 systems. As HP3000 systems were displaced by newer custom systems, became the primary support for HP OpenView Network Node Manager (multiple systems configured for failover), Performance Manager, Performance Agents on ~100 servers, Performance Insight, NetIQ AppManager and Security Manager, and Telamon/Vytek TelAlert for voice, email, and pager notification; supporting HQ in DC and Mint facilities around the country. Admin for all Unix systems including an E15K Sunfire system running Peoplesoft and many Linux servers. Primary admin for DNS, all UPS/Power/HVAC/other data center environmental systems and design. Also configured the Linux OS for the Mint's new VMWare ESX systems (an assortment of 8 and 16-way IBM Intel servers), which is the primary platform for all Microsoft and Linux servers.
