Equian acquired by Optum in late 2019 and merged into Optum Payment Integrity business. Expanded role to lead new product and market growth for the payor organization. Achieved 400% of plan in last year in role.

Responsible to identify new products and markets to expand Equian's offerings, leveraging existing and future capabilities.

Led one of three divisions within Equian, a leading end-to-end payment integrity organization delivering over $2.5b in annual savings to payor clients. Drove 6x growth in the business (organic and inorganic) by expanding our content and capabilities, standardizing our best practices across sites, and delivering exception results and service to clients.

Accountable for the Employee Benefits (Group Medical and Group Life), Group Pensions, and Credit Life lines of business across 10 countries in the Middle East & Africa ($500m in premium). Grew sales by 61% and pre-tax earnings by 40% over a two year period (2013-2014), exceeding plan in each year. Implemented innovative claim controls for the medical business, including case management, PBM, fraud waste & abuse detection, and wellness programs, resulting in a sustained 10% improvement in the blended benefit ratio in each of 2013 & 2014

Initiated and drove a five-year $200M+ business reengineering & technology re-platforming program for all of US Group Insurance ($8B business, 2200 employees in scope). Deliverables included conducting an internal assessment and selling the business case for change, selecting the policy administration and enrollment technology partners, and driving marketplace results with the initial enrollment service. On track to generate $5M+ in operational saves and $10M in persistency improvement in first year of production.

Launched a greenfield Retirement & Savings business around a novel individual variable annuity product for the UK market. Delivered three VA products (SIPP, GMAB, GMWB) into the market within a 15 month period. Established the foundation for sales through IFAs which led to £100m sales run-rate in year two. Negotiated a bancassurance deal with global partner to distribute new Variable Annuity (VA) products in five countries cross-border from MetLife Ireland. Rolled out country-specific VA product variations simultaneously in five markets over six month period.

Drove the outsourcing of the MetLife Mexico Life & Medical ($1B business) back office to local TPA. Achieved $5M in annual expense saves and delivered superior service levels and quality to our customers. Led International business architecture design and implementation.

Stabilized customer billing and administration quality issues within our US Voluntary business ($1.5B business). Drove down high levels of billed premium suspense and due & unpaid. Managed department of 350 direct FTE, $25M budget.

Reduced the claim unit cost by 40% in one year, resulting in $40M in annual savings and enabling MetLife to become the low cost Dental ASO provider in market ($2.5B business). Drove the outsourcing of the claims back office and IVR systems to national TPAs. Increased the claims auto-adjudication level from 27% to 67% and the IVR utilization from 23% to 46% in one year. Increased electronic claim submissions from 15% to 35% over two years. Dramatically improved the payment turn-around time from 10 to 4 days, resulting in “wow” factor in market.
