Translated legacy business processes and systems into SalesForce work flows, provided on-demand technical support, and trained users across multiple locations, time zones, and teams. Architect and developer of the Illuminate Software Suite, which includes multiple applications to control instrumentation, analyze data, and export results. This included developing the image processing and analysis procedure, a particle tracking algorithm, a scalable network communication protocol, data compression strategies, data storage formats, and User Interfaces (UI).Lead designer and programmer for all embedded hardware and software systems. This included custom circuit design and fabrication, AVR microcontroller firmware and driver development, optimizing performance with a real-time operating system, coordinating stepper motor control and feedback across three axes, and implementing inter- and intra-Printed Circuit Board (PCB) communication using I2C, RS-232, RS-485, and TCP/IP.

Lead a team of eight scientists and engineers on a one-year Office of Naval Research (ONR) program to upgrade remote test facilities for investigation of cell-to-cell failure propagation in large-format lithium battery systems using a diversified suite of instrumentation. Directed team to successful completion of program on-time and within budget, which has led to continued investigations into lithium battery safety.Developed and published laboratory methodologies for trace explosive vapor generation, detection, and quantitation while leading and mentoring a team of four young scientists and technicians as part of an ongoing Department of Homeland Security (DHS) program. Designed and implemented a patent-pending vapor generation system combining a pneumatically modulated liquid delivery system with an off-the-shelf nebulizer using an embedded microcontroller and a custom-printed circuit board, which yielded an elegant, cost-effective method for generating pulse-free, calibrated explosive vapor streams for evaluating prototype trace vapor detection sensors.Demonstrated parts-per-trillion detection of trace vapors in humidified air with a novel, 3D architecture of silicon nanowires in a vertical array with a porous electrode constructed in a state-of-the-art Class 100 cleanroom using a patent-pending micro-fabrication procedure. Extended, tested, and deployed sensor technology for real-time, mobile distributed chemical sensing of fire gases on robotic platforms for enhanced situational awareness as part of an ONR program for autonomous shipboard firefighting within a multi-institutional collaboration (NRL, Virginia Tech, and Penn State).

Built a MicroElectroMechanical Sysetms (MEMS)-based gas chromatography instrumentation by integrating electronics and micro-fabricated components into a usable prototype and demonstrated autonomous data collection at a remote test site within three weeks of introduction to project and research group.
