As a member to the NAB Products and Markets team, whereby I utilise the financial strength and capability of the NAB Group to assist Wealthy clients to participate in Institutional Investment product and provide solutions around their risk management. My current role is to assist NAB Private Wealth clients with Capital Market instruments, including FX, Interest rate risk management, bonds, structured deposits, listed/unlisted property and Equity Derivatives products. This requires me to educate the NAB Private Wealth Private Client Managers in the products, pricing and assist in the distribution of these services to their valued clients. In addition, I will participate with the Bankers in meeting with their clients to discuss these options and to provide and execute solutions on a non-advised basis.I Deal only with Wholesale, Sophisticated and Professional Investors (net assets of $2.5M and/or $250K income for the last 2 financial years or $10M in investible assets)
Director
Acting as a specialist to Westpac Private Bank, my role was to deliver to the Bankers and it's clients education of alternative investments and Capital Market instruments. This was achieved in training sessions to staff and client interviews in regards to products and services. Clients were only Wholesale/Sophisticated and professional investors, with product delivery including FX and FX investment instruments, debt capital market products (bonds, hybrids), alternative investments, equities and equities derivatives. In addition I was part of the product origination team and was involved in identifying external and internal partners and assisted in the analysis and approval process of various offerings onto the approved product list within Westpac. This involved trade ideas and delivery mechanisms, such as Westpac special purpose vehicles. I also provided to staff and clients economic and market information and implications to clients. While not a formal part of my role and given my strong background in understanding ultra high net worth clients, I undertook a coaching plan with Westpac Private Bankers in management and development of a true service model to their clients. This included estate planning, asset protection, philanthropy, wealth succession and generational wealth strategies.
Director
Working in conjunction with the CEO of the company we acted as asset consultants to various local and international investment banks (eg Barclays Bank, Macquarie Bank, Société General, Merrill Lynch etc) in the structure and manufacturing of Structured investment products. In addition, responsibilities also involved the distribution of the structured products within the Halliday Group and to manage a team of Business Development Managers in the distribution of these products to external boutique third party dealer groups. Responsibilities included obtaining approval of the various products on approved product lists, presentations to investment committees, advisers and building and maintaining core relationships within the dealer groups/research houses. In addition, my responsibilities included the General Management of the “back end processing”, legal and pre-marketing materials and supporting the CEO in the relationships with the various financial institutions.
Senior Private Banker
I was the prime relationship point for a set of ultra-high net worth individuals. These include several of the BRW top 200 rich list or such individuals from CEO’s of leading Corporate companies in Australia, industry leaders, industrialists and entrepreneurs, both locally and internationally. The role required an ability to manage the financial interaction of the client with the ANZ Private Bank, including the identification of opportunities in transactional banking, lending (complex and vanilla), Investments, Investment strategies, alternative investments (including IPO’s, Hybrids and wholesale fund distributions), Estate Planning, Risk and Financial Advisory. In addition, I was responsible for the implementation of Capital Market products to the client base. To facilitate this interaction, I was required to have a good understanding of all of the above aspects and when required, introduce and manage the client in referral to an in-house or external service provider. In addition, I was required to establish market creditability with a view to pursue new opportunities through referrals, industry functions/presentations etc.The Sydney Portfolio consisted of FUM $300M over 120 client groups. Average net asset position of clients was $20 - $1B. I fostered and developed deep relationships within the families of the clientele and was one of Australia’s best performers within the Private Bank.
Manager Private Bank
On commencement with Lloyds Bank NZA Ltd, my duties included the Management of a portfolio of high net worth clients in respect to their transactional banking and lending/investment needs. As one of the first Private Banks in Australia, the product offerings were generic and were general banking in nature . In addition I was responsible for the Management of Correspondent Banking of the Lloyds Group (AUD) and managed the Cash Management services of the Group and had direct reports of 7 staff. Lloyds Bank NZA Ltd was sold to ABN Amro Bank NV in 2006. The Private Bank was merged with an existing ABN Amro Private Bank, which brought the ability to market to our client base sophisticated investment products, which were sourced from ABN AMRO Singapore. In June 1998, ABN Amro sold its Private Banking division to the Colonial. On commencement with Colonial, I was involved with the establishment of the Colonial Private Bank and managed the migration of the ABN Amro business to Colonial (the sale did not include liabilities to the Bank). During our period of employment with Colonial, I sourced new clients through their Corporate and Institutional Banking Division. Colonial was subsequently sold to Commonwealth Bank of Australia to which we were again migrated to their Private Bank. In the capacity of Manager, my role continued to be the management of the client base originally sourced from the previous banks and to integrate the service proposition. This included equity brokering, advisory and Alternative investments, in addition to transactional banking, lending.
