  • Front Range Community College
Faculty Lead For Astronomy And Physics
Front Range Community College Aug 2015 - Apr 2021
    Front Range, Colorado, Us
As program lead I started an innovative project-based teaching curriculum for calculus based engineering physics focused courses, astronomy and astrophysics, and engineering computing. I improved data driven outcomes of STEM education using active learning focused on transferable skills and real world problem-solving.I also started a career mentorship pilot program for STEM students, co-hosted events with the Science and Math Career and Academic Community, including a bi-annual STEM internship fair, organized science talks, and I started a weekly educator support group during COVID-19 to find innovative ways to adapt to the challenges of teaching college level STEM classes with lab components online.
  • Velodyne Lidar, Inc.
    Senior Software Systems Engineer
Velodyne Lidar, Inc. Oct 2013 - Apr 2014
As a software systems engineer for field deployable remote sensing systems (LiDAR) I used my experience in remote sensing, programming, control systems and automation to streamline production verification and validation processes. I also handled product support for domestic and international accounts on Velodyne's LiDAR systems, diagnosing end user problems with telemetry and GPS using C++ Visual Studio with MFC, and I designed new test criteria and identified process improvements for sensor validation.
  • Slac National Accelerator Laboratory
    Mission Operations Lead
Slac National Accelerator Laboratory Sep 2012 - Oct 2013
    Menlo Park, California, Us
I managed operations teams, experimental facilities systems, designed control systems software (including systems management functions and UI/UX), and managed the safe operation and repair of experiment control hardware, to successfully execute the mission of multiple particle accelerator programs. Three of these programs are internationally recognized, span the fields of x-ray free electron laser science, plasma wakefiled accelerator science, and matter-antimatter particle physics, and include the LCLS free electron x-ray facility, FACET, and PEP-II.
  • Slac National Accelerator Laboratory
Senior Systems Engineer, Accelerator And Injector Laser Systems
Slac National Accelerator Laboratory Apr 2006 - Sep 2012
    Menlo Park, California, Us
At this Department of Energy research facility at Stanford University, I operated and maintained multiple particle accelerators and experiments, including: the PEP-II accelerator, used to study matter-antimatter asymmetry in the Standard Model; the ANITA probe, a high-altitude Antarctic microwave array used to indirectly detect the presence of neutrinos; FACET, an experimental facility used to study the physics of the acceleration of leptons via plasma wakefields; and the LCLS free electron x-ray laser, used to study the molecular and atomic structure of materials on femtosecond time scales. While in Operations, I built numerous original diagnostics and tuning software for accelerator control, laser and RF systems telemetry, as well as the first training and technical documentation for Operations on multiple x-ray experimental facilities and accelerator systems.
  • Corvix Space Systems, Inc.
    Chief Engineer & Founder
Corvix Space Systems, Inc. Jun 2010 - Oct 2012
As the Chief Engineer and Founder of this aerospace sensor systems R&D firm, I designed & built prototype multi-spectral sensing technology for space based applications. My chief responsibilities included team and project management with tight deadlines and budgetary constraints. I also built an electronics and prototyping laboratory, procured vendors, and sourced investors to support this work. My team's work led us to enter the Qualcomm Tricorder X-Prize competition, and led to the foundation of Corvectra, Inc. a medical device development company.
