▪ Developed and managed a USD600m alternative assets fund-of-funds.▪ The portfolio invested across a range of non-traditional assets such as private equity,private real estate, infrastructure, hedge funds and others.▪ Primary and secondary fund investments.

I headed-up Liberty’s balance sheet optimisation initiatives which seek to increase the equity value of Liberty Holdings by finding more efficient ways of: • Setting strategy (e.g. selecting ventures, deploying capital, strategic investments), and • Executing strategy (e.g. risk budgeting, structuring and performance measurement).This steered the business toward decisions that span across business lines and geographies, and that maximise group value on a risk-adjusted basis after taking account of tax.During my time in this role I also advised on a number of mergers and acquisitions and acted as the deal architect for the listing of a REIT.

I managed the Liberty’s shareholder investment portfolio (SIP) worth circa USD2bn. This included:• Setting the long term asset allocation to maximise capital efficiency• Proposing and implementing new asset classes (we introduced hedge funds, infrastructure, African property, agriculture and equity protection strategies using derivatives)• Selecting, mandating and monitoring managers • Enhancing management and monitoring processes

• Lead consultant to defined benefit pension schemes (£10m to £100m) and secondary consultant on more sophisticated clients (£300m to £1.5bn). The process followed was to identify unique needs (risk and return) which informed the construction of suitable multi-asset investment portfolios, hedging strategies (e.g. LDI) and implementation approaches.• Researching and selecting asset managers with a specific focus on equity, bond, cash and multi-asset portfolio managers that covers a variety of "alternative" asset classes.• Coordinating team projects and mentoring junior staff• Member of the task team that developed an ‘implemented consulting’ business and portfolio
