Regional Commissioner
Current- Executive Oversight: Responsible for leading 11 national programs across eight western states and Guam. Lead nationwide initiatives and projects on behalf of BLS with external federal agencies and internal executive offices. Create and supervise the execution of the Regional Operations Plan to synchronize goals across disciplinary teams, improving metrics in survey response, staff collaboration, and personnel development categories. Routinely meet with division leaders to synergize joint data collection efforts across teams.- Strategic Planning: Champion the development and implementation of new best practices based on rigorous research of industry trends and needs. Routinely identify and coordinate data collection administration, survey strategies, and data management to maintain staff awareness of industry developments and catalyze innovation at all levels of operations. Develop plans to improve coordination with all regional Department of Labor (DOL) programs, the General Services Administration (GSA), federal executive boards, state labor market agencies, Federal Reserve, local chambers of commerce, and executive leaders at major private entities. - Staff Leadership: Direct and supervise the efforts of 167 personnel across the West Region. Manage efforts through three Assistant Regional Commissioners, the Economic and Information Analysis Branch Chief, a Regional Administrative Officer, a Management and Program Analyst, and an Administrative Specialist. Coach executive development of managers nationwide.- Operations and Resource Management: Direct the planning and execution of annual operating budget and federal-state cooperative agreements. Coordinate regional operations with peers to ensure consistency of data quality. Hold regular meetings with technical experts and division leaders to identify emergent challenges and innovate solutions. Oversee the regional operations of the Occupational Safety and Health Survey as executed by BLS.
