Started out my tenure as Product Owner for the next generation AppFog Cloud Native application platform on CenturyLink Cloud. AppFog is a platform for creating, scaling, and managing Cloud Native applications and is based on Cloud Foundry. In my role as Product Owner I engaged in setting the vision, priorities, pricing, and go to market activities for the product launch. We successfully launched on July 15, 2016.After the launch I was asked to take on a role as Director of Product Management for the Cloud Platform. In this role I would oversee the Product Ownership duties for the Infrastructure as a Service platform. One of the main themes of focus was to make the platform capabilities extensible to satellite services being built atop including single sign-on (SSO), billing and invoicing, and service network for secure microservice API access. There were 4 teams developing these capabilities off one roadmap that I prioritized.Our culture was based on DevOps practices and principles. Each team owned their own service from idea to implementation to production support and monitoring. Some of my role was to also coach and support Product Owners across the organization to apply their product management backgrounds in this type of environment including how to make their roadmaps incremental and focused reducing Work in Process (WIP), providing a vision through tools such as Lean Canvas, and how to engage development teams through small, consistently sized stories and acceptance criteria using Gherkin language (Given/When/Then).
