Establishing a new Enterprise Architecture practice from a network perspective for IoT at Bell. Documenting the current mode of operation of IoT across the various business units at Bell, identifying the key platforms, actors and processes to drive toward an optimized future mode of operation

Part of a team of Senior Architects that are defining and implementing the Internet of Things platform architecture for Bell Mobility. This includes the integration of existing components (Connected Device Platform, Application Enablement Platform, etc.), migration of legacy systems to a virtualized environment, while keeping an eye on up-and-coming technologies (5G / NB-IoT).

Technical Project Lead and Solution Architect on various initiatives within the Bell Internet of Things portfolio, supporting multiple business units within Bell. I led a cross functional team, including SMEs from Network, Platforms and Devices, evaluating cutting edge technologies to deliver solutions that met the needs of the end customer. This included collecting the business requirements, evaluating viable solutions resulting in a recommendation to the Bell Executive team, executing a detailed design including budget and schedule estimation and overseeing implementation. During my time in this role I received a Network Merit Recognition award for providing excellent customer support within a major project.

Technical Project Lead and Solution Architect on the Bell Push to Talk project, taking on various roles throughout the life of the project. During project initiation I served as platform SME as well as project manager – engaging the relevant SMEs, we evaluated several different vendors and provided a recommendation to the Bell Executive team based on technology and cost. During implementation I lead the platform team, delegating various aspects of this phase to appropriate SMEs while providing overall guidance, assisting with vendor escalations and collecting the team’s input in order to provide weekly updates to the Bell Executive team. Post launch I assisted with addressing several customer facing issues, providing an escalation path to the vendor, engaging several Bell SMEs for problem resolution, and tracking issues to closure.Design consultant on Bell’s analytics initiative, leveraging my experience gained on the DPI project around customer privacy I was asked to provide insight on what was permissible in terms of where customer data could be stored and what could be done with it.Design consultant on a project that implemented video calling from within Facebook to video capable mobile devices. Duties included developing and executing test cases to validate the functionality of the platform. During the execution of the test cases, I worked with the various vendors to resolve issues encountered during the testing. I received another Bell Canada Bravo award for my work on this project.

Lead Architect on a project implementing deep packet inspection to accommodate advanced data billing. I was responsible for overall design, integration and testing of the solution. Duties included coordinating activities of several different groups within Wireless Technology and Engineering to accomplish the project goals as well as providing status updates to upper management.Lead Architect on a project implementing a middleware platform to mitigate the increased data traffic being directed toward to the new Prepaid platform. I was responsible for creating and executing test cases, signing off the acceptance of the product and providing status reports to upper management. After launch, my duties include coordinating activities with third party vendors that wish to integrate with the Prepaid platform via the middleware.

Lead Architect on a project implementing push to talk over cellular using VoIP technology. I received a Bell Canada Bravo Award in recognition for the effort put in to the launch of the 10-4 (Push-to-talk) service, one of the most successful service launches in the history of Bell Mobility. I was responsible the overall implementation, including overseeing the lab setup, designing, coordinating with subject matter experts, documenting and testing the solution. As part of supporting the solution, my current duties include coordinating any activities with the 10-4 (Push-to-talk) lab including the testing of any proposed resolution to production issues.Lead Architect on a project that extends corporate dialing (extension dialing) plans to cellular phones. Duties include working with the vendor to make design changes to the platform to accommodate the requirements of the business and thoroughly testing the changes prior to production deployment.

Technical Lead on a project integrating the Prepaid cellular platform in to a new billing system. Duties included working closely with the Billing team to ensure the integration was done correctly as well as coordinating test activities. Working as the Prepaid Subject Matter Expert, I reviewed and provided comment on the Billing System design documents to ensure they did not negatively impact the Prepaid platform.Technical Lead on a project that allowed for real-time billing of SMS messages on a Prepaid cellular platform. Duties included coordinating development and testing with the SMS team and administrating several Solaris servers. Platform Owner of the Prepaid cellular lab platform. Duties included coordinating activities with the lab platform, including testing fixes for production issues.

Integrated several disparate security systems for several financial Institutions. Duties included designing, implementing and supporting many Unix Shell and Perl scripts and coordinating with several different vendors to ensure that overall solution met the customer's needs.Integrated Source Code management tools for several financial Institutions. Duties included writing Unix Shell and Perl scripts to incorporate the new code management tools in to the existing development process.Created and ran pre-sales technical demos. Duties included researching customer's requirements and tailoring the demo to meet the customer's expectations.Implemented a Redhat Linux based network with Windows based file sharing that was used by the company's sales force. This allowed a cost effective solution that provided a central repository for file sharing and backing up of critical documents.

Designed and implemented an inventory system the operated on modified Palm Pilots and integrated in to Windows based desktops. Duties included designing and developing a custom printer driver for the Windows desktops to allow printing to a POS printer.Implemented Windows 2000 based networks for several clients.Ran the Technical Support Department. Duties included coordinating the schedules of the support team and making sure the needs of the customers were met.

Provided support for UNIX servers. Duties included administrating DGUX servers and ensuring all night time jobs executed correctly.Provided support for Windows NT based Networks.
