MISSION AS AN EDUCATORLead and design a comprehensive health and wellness program that provides at least one meaningful experience to each student that inspires him/her to adopt a healthy lifestyle habit for LIFE. BEYOND THE WALLS OF A SCHOOL (non-profit foundation)Served as a lead physical activity coordinator and program developer for Upgrade™ Leading local wellness coordinators to improve school environment by implementing healthy eating and active living programs and policies. In response to physical activity program needs, I created tool kits, program leader guides, professional development plans, and a physical education curriculum that are currently implemented by teachers within the Upgrade™ Initiative.Throughout my professional journey, I had the privilege to create and deliver a health education curriculum called SuperFood Heroes™ as a result of a research-guided project with Indiana University Center on Education and Lifelong Learning. This program is currently used in southwest Indiana schools as a key component to developing healthier behaviors in students. BEYOND PROFESSIONALIf you help build it, they will come. I volunteered to lead my community in developing, funding, and constructing a public scenic trail. This three-year project provides our rural community a safe place for recreation, transportation, and connectivity as it connects our local high school to a park and town in a two mile stretch. This million dollar project has brought our small town a priceless asset to all the community members and visitors alike.
