I hold a Master of Science degree in Applied Animal Training and Behaviour and I am a Certified APDT Advanced Instructor.I am a dedicated professional who loves to work to improve the relationship between puppies and adult dogs and their families. I set my own pet care, dog walking and dog training company up in 2014.Ongoing professional development and learning is a must for all genuine caring trainers and behaviourists in this unregulated industry.I offer 1-2-1 training at your home or outdoors and can help you with all things dog! From pre-puppy purchase advice, to puppy foundation training and beyond to behaviour modification training. I also offer puppy classes for safe, well managed social experiences for your puppy and learning opportunity for their humans.I also offer Gundog skills training for all breeds.I advocate for reward based training using positive reinforcement techniques: what gets rewarded will most likely be repeated. Training should be fun which helps our dogs to engage and learn. I never use aversive equipment such as shock collars or prong collars; in 11 years of working with people and their dogs I have never needed to consider punishment as a way to change behaviour. The kind, fair and effective alternatives are available for all to learn about. My first dog was 25 years ago: a re-homed working (rabbiting) lurcher called Millie the sweetest girl who was a Saluki/Bedlington/Whippet closely followed by a Malamute adopted by me at 7 months of age and the 2 girls were the best of friends. I have also had the joy of sharing my life with 8 cat personalities over many years, sadly losing the last of my cats, Mouse and Bunty, 5 years ago, aged 20 and 19. I have also been a lifelong rider and lover of horses. Having had the privilege of riding and caring for several horses for many years, my interest in animal behaviour and welfare extends to other species beyond the wonderful canine species that so many people love and share their lives with. Currently, I share my life with 6 Working Cocker Spaniels, aged 12 down to 3 years old. They love to train with me but are mostly out getting wet or muddy cross country everyday enjoying life - whatever the weather! My spaniels also love their job beating with me during the shooting season.
