About Chrissy Doolan
Hi, my name is Chrissy, I am a keen and strong supporter of Aboriginal rights and the Stolen Generations in Australia. I am also involved with Stolen Generations organisations and affiliated with the National Stolen Generations Alliance as an Executive. I am also the public officer of the newly established Stolen Generations Circle of HOPE. INC, ADVOCACY,TRAINING AND SUPPORT Group, SA. I believe in the power of education as the tool for increasing knowledge around Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history and Culture, of which I am involved in as my current position as a tutor and Lecturer at UniSA, teaching pre-service teachers enrolled in the course of Teaching and Learning in Aboriginal Education. My community involvement has led me to Co-Found the SA Stolen Generations Memorial and Healing Garden at Stebonheath Park, the first one established in SA. I speak at various events both Govt, and Non-Govt, Community groups and educational organisations and schools. Health of our Aboriginal community is also a main focus of my involvement in improving the well-being and safety of Elders and young people as well, by increasing the knowledge and supporting Health practitioners to understand and learn about Stolen Generations issues along with Cultural issues that affect health and well-being. I believe that in order for Australians or International visitors to our country to understand who we are as Aboriginal people, there needs to be more visibility of our people in the media as positive role models, as well as Healing Camps for education and meeting the survivors of the Stolen Generations in culturally appropriate locations that enable positive communication and understanding of who we are and where we come from, this is something you will never get out of a book or a Non-Indigenous person telling our story as the 3rd person, the Truth is out there, unlock it today...Peace to you!
