I have the privilege of leading a team of learning pros charged with the onboarding and leadership development of LinkedIn's 3,800 people leaders. Much of my work in this role has focused on spearheading the creation and implementation of three Leading Others Academies- designed to upskill and support people leaders as they learn how to operationalize our culture and values, enable employee career growth, and achieve success and impact with their teams. About 25% of our people leaders have completed at least one academy in our inaugural year, and we've seen an increase in confidence in all 15 targeted skills.

Serving on the company's Center for Leadership Excellence, my team and I were responsible for the growth and development of our 3,800+ people leaders. We built, managed, and delivered learning experiences to enable our managers to be exceptional.

My aim was to elevate the team’s impact on our global employees by developing comprehensive programs and structures to scale access to skill-building learning experiences. Highlights include leading our team through developing four holistic learning journeys for individual contributors, implementing new practices into our company’s performance management efforts as part of our annual review cycle, and spearheading LinkedIn’s inaugural Career Month for employees to explore career opportunities and aspirations. Following Career Month, 94% of our participants felt more equipped to pursue their career aspirations.

The ultimate goal has been to enable LinkedIn employees to do the best work of their careers. I accomplished this goal by creating, building, and facilitating dynamic learning experiences at scale. Topics included mindset shifting, skill building, and diversity, inclusion and belonging. I led various projects to streamline internal operations and efficiencies. I have created, managed, and facilitated workshops leveraged by approximately 8,000 of LinkedIn’s global employees.

Strategically counsel executives in their communication and public speaking skills. Focus areas include executive presence, virtual speaking, confidence boosting, and helping each client get in touch with their own psyche as it relates to their communication challenges and strengths.

Serve as keynote speaker, employee trainer, and external consultant, focusing on a variety of topics, including identity, intercultural communication, public speaking, well-being, and onboarding.

Worked with executives and professionals in a range of industries, helping them connect better with their audience: whether they were giving a keynote, running a meeting, or simply motivating their team. The trainings ranged from one-on-one to teams to large public events.

I was responsible for the entire onboarding process for 9,500 new undergraduate students annually, which begins as soon as they decide to attend UC Berkeley and ends a month after classes begin. For more than 50 years, UC Berkeley formally welcomed its undergraduate students to campus through Cal Student Orientation, a summer orientation program for a few hundred students at a time. Beginning in 2017, we transitioned the campus to a welcome week model of orientation immediately before classes began for all 9,000+ new undergraduate students, called Golden Bear Orientation. This campus-wide change took two years to implement, relied on numerous committees, student input, 600+ team members, and much hard work and innovation. In its first year, the new orientation model resulted in 90% of students having a smooth transition to the university (see Golden Bear Orientation Survey Results Overview below to geek out on higher ed data).Collaborating closely with several key stakeholders, I managed programs for new transfer students that showcased career development opportunities. In one academic year, approximately 2,500 students, 130 alumni, and 50 companies participated in events (see transfer student article below for details).Check out the big C below to see our Guinness World Record.

Implemented new student onboarding sessions in Shanghai, Beijing, and Hong Kong. Researched locations, developed budget, created schedules, hired and trained student staff, and prepared procedures for virtual academic advising.

Spearheaded campus-wide “I am a Trojan” initiative to inform students of what it means to be a student at USC, including the university’s core values and expectations for the members of the Trojan Family.

Piloted and administered seminar for new international students called “The United States: An American Culture Series,” which aimed to increase retention through enhancing students’ comfort and knowledge about life in the United States. Constructed syllabus, taught class, and recruited and trained instructors. Expanded to 9 sections and 18 instructors per year within 4 years. Collaborated with campus partners to recreate onboarding schedules, structure, and presentations for university-wide graduate student orientation and international student orientation for 3,000 students annually. Became one of the first orientation departments in the country to centralize both programs within the orientation programs portfolio as opposed to the graduate and international departments.
