In this short time, I worked from home as a Private, Self-Employed, night-time Carer for my Father who had Motor Neurone Disease. The job required me to be awake throughout the evening from 9pm - 7am. I had to ensure that all of the patient’s needs were met and he was comfortable. Administer and note all of the medication the patient requires in the carer’s diary and drug chart sheets. I am able to correctly use and adjust a feeding pump to the dieticians suggested feeding settings, as well as hoist, aid and comfort the patient when being manoeuvred into their chair or bed.

It was crucial that we kept up to date and understood relevant guidelines/legislation.
