As a comic, I am tasked with writing my own material and doing my best to keep a feel for what "worked for me" and what did not. By changing and expanding topics, tweaking my timing or delivery, I can better gauge what the crowd will enjoy in future performances. Promotion of venues and fellow comics are key to being a welcome and successful player. Performing gigs at venues, entertaining the crowd by telling jokes and stories that make people laugh are only half of a comics duties. There are a lot of behind-the-scenes preparation goes into each performance. Material is carefully crafted, presentation is rehearsed but the ability to be great at improv is essential to success. I am always gauging the reaction of the audience of both my performance and that of my fellow comics. Topics can have a very short shelf life due to the ever evolving arena of social media and as current events change at such a rapid pace, I am always preparing to take the show in a different direction if needed. I currently call various venues seeking opportunities for booking shows for myself and I am seeking an agent/manager that has experience in this field. My mentor and I meet up regularly to expand my knowledge of the industry. I truly enjoy the energy and the honest reaction/response from a well entertained crowd.
