In the mid 1980s, Chris Tanner decided to turn his marketing talents to his love of sport, and made a long term commitment to doing his bit to improve the understanding and practice of sports marketing in Australia.For three decades, he has raised the bar in all sports where he has practiced, raising brand profiles, achieving sponsorship firsts, enhancing athletes' careers, and getting the job done.Specifically, he redeveloped the way football was marketed in Australia, with new ideas about leveraging the enormous participant base. He developed the model that is regarded by many as the first attempt at reform of Australia’s domestic football landscape. He also played major roles in the making of the Foster’s Lager NSW Soccerblues touring teams, the initial “Soccer NSW” model, and the creation of Australia’s first semi-professional rural football competition.In 2009, he and his associates engineered a bid ("The Wanderers") for the second Sydney A-League licence, which was rejected by Football Federation Australia, who later came up with their own club, largely similar to what Tanner and his group had presented.Motor sport, rugby league, hockey, beach football, beach volleyball, Australian Rules football, surfing, boxing and martial arts are more sports where he has achieved significant success.He has continued to provide marketing consultancy services to businesses and government departments across Australia, New Zealand and the United Arab Emirates.Since 1996 he has headed up Zenith Sports and Event Management, where he and his team have managed athletes and events locally and internationally.SKILL SET- business management & planning- product development- advertising & promotion- public & community relations- market research & analysis- media relations- athlete management- event management- sales management- production & publishing- sponsorship strategies- merchandising & licensing strategies- social media & technology utilisation
