As an Engineering Director, I architect, design, develop, and test Software as a Service (SaaS) products for LexisNexis. These products include offerings such as Legal Search, Risk Management, and Media Intelligence licensed for use by LexisNexis's customers. In this capacity, I supervise seven separate development teams consisting of over 50 programmers, Quality Assurance (QA) technicians, and infrastructure engineers who work directly for the company or are employed as remote contractors. My teams utilize the AWS platform, Docker Containers, microservices architecture, and machine learning to build back-end services as well as Web and API development tools to create Web-based user interfaces. I Collaborate with individual product owners using Agile principles to run Scrum Sprints, document User Stories, conduct weekly "stand-ups," groom the feature roadmap, and manage the CI/CD pipeline. I also Oversee a $3MM departmental budget, track RAP (Reliability, Availability, and Performance) metrics, and provide continuous status reports to executive management. Key Achievements:- I eliminated redundancy across two API development teams, which improved coding throughput and slashed annual operating costs by 30%. - I established an engineering mentorship program that paired senior programmers with junior developers during their initial ramp-up. This program cut onboarding time in half and increased team productivity. - I was part of the group that organized a corporate-wide "Hack-a-Thon" to inspire new product features and enhancements across LexisNexis product lines. This program resulted in 87 new ideas and a $10K award to one of my seven engineering teams.

In this position, I was in charge of two development teams that initiated and built the LexisNexis Media Intelligence and Risk Management solutions currently utilized by over 70K business users. I put together the underlying system's framework using Docker/Kubernetes, Elasticsearch, and MongoDB, all running on the AWS Cloud platform. As a manager, I directed analysts, engineers, QA, and infrastructure technicians working locally in the U.S. and under contract in Romania. I also instituted the use of Agile methodologies, Scrum, and DevOps techniques within the engineering teams. In addition, I tracked project management metrics and provided regular performance updates to product owners and senior engineering management. Key Achievements:- I spearheaded a development project that built from scratch the Nexis Diligence Web solution using Java, React, JavaScript, REST APIs, and MongoDB. This product generated over $30MM in revenue in its first year. - I researched, prototyped, recommended, and implemented a program to use a microservice architecture to improve application scalability and performance. This new platform saved 20% in annual development costs.- I introduced Agile techniques to product owners and engineering teams, which led to three consecutive years of never missing a deployment deadline.- I was awarded by senior LexisNexis management the coveted 2019 "Hero" award for contributions to Nexis solutions.

As the technical engineering lead, I organized and directed a team of 12 developers and QA engineers charged with designing and building the company's flagship news and social media harvesting system. This application scraped and processed content from over 90K Web sites, and social media feeds and presented this information through a Web portal. This SaaS offering exploited Java, Spring, Spring Boot, MySQL, MongoDB, Docker Containers, Kubernetes, Kafka, Cassandra, REST APIs, all hosted on AWS platform using Amazon EC2, S3, and EKS. Key Achievement:- My team delivered a first-of-its-kind news and social media platform, from concept to customer roll-out, on-time and under budget.

At DRC, I worked under contract to the U.S. Airforce. I functioned as the primary integration engineer building software interfaces to Department of Defense (DoD) systems from the Air Forces' multi-billion-dollar Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system (ECSS). ECSS was based on Oracle's E-Business Suite (EBS). I crafted the technical architecture, designed dozens of components, and wrote the integration code. I also collaborated with product owners, project managers, and other engineers on Scrums, Sprints, code reviews, and unit testing. I was presented with the ECSS Star Award and ECSS Excellence Award for my efforts on this contract.

I served as the lead developer on a U.S. Airforce application used to manage the storage and transfer of nuclear weapons. I worked with the product owners and project managers through multiple Sprints and Scrums to define requirements, set feature priorities, establish project schedules, and groom the feature backlog. The application was developed using Adobe Flex, BlazeDS, Cairngorm, Java, J2ee, Apache iBATIS, Axis2, SoapUI, and Eclipse.

As a senior software engineer, I wrote integration code for the U.S. Army surrounding IBM products such as WebSphere, Portal, Content manager, Lotus Forms, Lotus Sametime, and Lotus Quickr. I also acted as the technical lead on a multi-million-dollar forms-based application employed by hundreds of thousands of users to track military commands. In this position, I held a "Secret" security clearance.

Under contract to the U.S. Air Force, I headed up the team that developed a custom, Web-based, graphically oriented, "Balanced Scorecard" strategic management tool used by Air Force officers. The application connected current actions with long-term goals and used visual strategic maps, metric charts, and initiatives parameters graphs. This position required me to hold a "Secret" security clearance.
