I was primarily responsible for maintenance and development of the Idox Document Management System. This was the primary product offered by Idox for storing documents with associated metadata. The core technology used included Java, Spring and Struts.I worked on a project named Grant Manager (http://grantmanager.nl) which was designed to allow management of grants from councils for various projects to bidding companies. This wasa client-server application; the server was written in Java using Spring and the client written inJavascript using backbone.I was responsible for mentoring a recent graduate as a Software Engineer. I was able to successfully get him up to speed and contributing within a short period of time.

At Capita SMS I was tasked with development across their full line of products. I was part of a team using KANBAN and agile techniques for their development process. Along with my regular duties, I also took it upon myself to improve the development process for myself and others, including streamlining our work flow, improving robustness in the field for our clients, improving our test suites both in scope and speed and extending skill and knowledge liquidity by arranging knowledge sharing classes with a co-worker and encouraging others to do the same.Client development used JavaScript, Ember.js, Ember Date, Ember Test and Cucumber. Server development used Java, Spring, JUnit, Maven and RabbitMQ. Android development used Java and WebKit. The architecture was primarily client/server with the backend making use of messaging/workers and micro services for scalability.

At SAS I worked in both the Solutions and Client teams. In the solutions team, I was selected to work on a project subset known as CJSE due to my personal expertise in Java and related technology. When SAS lost the contract I became a member of the Client team where I worked on their core product, Patriarch.At SAS we used a test driven methodology in a Scrum environment. The technology used was highly varied but primarily involved .NET (C#, Visual Basic, Visual Studio 2008-2010), Java (Eclipse, NetBeans), C, C++ (Visual Studio 2008-2010) and Visual Basic 6. Technology such as SVN, XML, JSON, MySQL, Oracle, Maven and TeamCity were all used.

As a member of the development team, I was responsible for full lifecycle development of Sword Ciboodle software. During my time there, I was a member of the core team whose responsibilities were to ensure the latest stream of the software was as defect free as possible. I also later had a brief stint as member of the support team, correcting defects in customised versions of the software for end users.Sword Ciboodle made use of test driven development in a scrum environment using Java for their core piece of software known as the process kernel and JavaScript/XML for their proprietary business layer. Primary tools and technology used included Java, JavaScript, CVS/SVN, MySQL, Oracle, MSSQL Server, Jboss, JUnit and Ant.

As a member of one of the development teams, I am involved in full lifecycle development of the core software and supporting web applications. My role involves analysing business requirements, designing viable solutions, implementation/testing, release to accreditation/production environments and documentation/training when applicable. Other responsibilities include performing analysis/code/release review for team members and externally on occasion for other teams.I make use of a test driven methodology, using Perl for legacy applications and Java for more recently developed applications in a Linux (Debian) and Windows environment. I use a wide range of tools and technology in my day to day activities; Git/CVS as versioning systems, MySQL for database management, JUnit for testing, BASH/Python/Perl for scripting and Ant/Makefiles for building.
